CCHS News and Announcements
Happy Spring with a little pesky snow to still slow us down a bit. Just a friendly reminder that this week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Make sure to send a note, text, email, or make a phone call to all those educators who you appreciate. They work hard all year and deserve a little kindness from our families and students this week.
Tuesday, May 9th all students are expected to be in school by 8:30am to complete their last NWEA exams for the school year. This will be a day for students to show how much they have grown as a student since the beginning of the school year. Graduates are working hard to complete their portfolios and have scheduled their portfolio defense time. The last day of school for graduates will be Thursday, May 18th but all are welcome to join us in our Workforce Boot Camp Days still to come. Schedule and events for these days will go out in the next week. Graduates need to keep the morning of Friday, June 2nd open for graduation practice, the graduation walk through the schools, and brunch. Mark your calendars now for graduation for CCHS students which will take place at the LCHS gym at 8:30am on Saturday, June 3rd. Make sure to end the school year with great attendance. I know everyone is ready for a break, but students need to be here on all days and times students are scheduled.

English Language Development (ELD) Curriculum and Spanish Acquisition Curriculum
We are pleased to begin moving forward with the selection process for an English Language Development (ELD) Curriculum and Spanish Acquisition Curriculum. We are forming a team of educators to complete this work. The team will begin meeting in early May.
We will continue to keep you informed on this process and gather your feedback at appropriate times. We value your insight and appreciate the opportunity to work with you. Please be on the lookout for our community feedback and question/answer sessions that we will be hosting. During these sessions we would love to have our community’s feedback on the ELD and Spanish curriculum.
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to Lorena Walker (lwalker@lakecountyschools.net)
Should School Board members be paid? We want to hear from you. ¿Se debe pagar a los miembros de la Junta Escolar? Queremos escuchar de ti. |
The State of Colorado passed a new law (HB21-1055) that allows for a district to consider paying future School Board Members. The Lake County School Board sees the benefit in allowing pay for board members to recruit and attract community members who may otherwise have financial barriers to serving on the Board. We would like to hear your thoughts on the idea of compensating school board members. Please provide your input by May 15. You are also invited to share your input during public participation at upcoming school board meetings. These meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of the month at 6:30PM at the District Administration Office (315 W. 5th Street). We appreciate your input. |
