News From LCHS 5/13/22
Good Morning LCHS Community,
This is a big weekend here at LCHS. The Wizard of Oz premiered last night to rave reviews. More performances will continue tonight, Saturday afternoon, and again on Saturday evening. Please come out and support all of these wonderful staff, and students. Next wednesday, please come join us for High School Programming night at 7p.m. at LCHS. We will explain and answer questions about all of our high school course options for next year. There will be door prizes and a reward for the crew with the most parent participation. Please come and learn about how you can support your student in the upcoming school year.
Thank you!

Prom Details: Juniors and Seniors at LCHS and CCHS are invited to attend this year’s prom, Enchanted Forest. Prom is being held at Freight on Saturday, May 28th from 7-11pm Please see below for more information.
High School Programming Family Night: We are inviting all family and community members to our HS Programming Family Night on Wednesday, May 18th starting at 7pm in the high school auditorium. We will discuss updates to our high program for next year, as well as graduation requirements. Additionally, staff members from CMC (Colorado Community College) will present information about their partnership with LCHS and enrolling students in college classes for next year. Interpretation will be provided. We will have refreshments, and we’ll be doing a raffle for prizes! We hope to see everyone there!
Spring NWEA Testing: We will have our 3rd and final round of NWEA testing on Wednesday, May 18th (grades 7-12) and Thursday, May 19th (grades 7-8). We use this data to gauge student learning and progress for the year as well as their current academic level. This is one data point that factors into a student’s full academic portfolio. Please ensure that your child is ready to put their best foot forward on these days! Attendance is also extremely important. If your child is not in attendance, we will need to pull them from class at a different time to take the assessments.
9-12 Cornerstones!: We are planning a fun afternoon for our 9-12th graders on Wednesday, May 18th after testing. You will be getting more information about the plans and activities for this Cornerstone event as we get closer to the date! Grades 7-8 will have their Cornerstone Day on June 9th.
8th Grade Celebration Ceremony: We are excited to announce the reinstatement of our annual 8th grade celebration to honor their accomplishments and work throughout Junior High. The ceremony will be held on June 9th from 6:30-7:30pm in the LCHS auditorium. Please keep in mind that grades will not be finalized at this time. The celebration ceremony does not signify promotion.
Finals Week: Finals for students grades 7-11 will take place the week of June 13th. Finals are an important aspect of our academic program. They establish and maintain high expectations for student learning and performance. Finals are also one way students demonstrate their learning for the year and readiness for the next grade level. Please ensure you do not make plans this week. Students must be in attendance. We will only excuse absences for unique circumstances, and it will need to be approved by an administrator. We will not excuse finals themselves. If students miss finals for unexcused reasons, they will be given zero credit. If students miss for excused reasons, they must go in at an alternative time to make them up. Thank you for helping us maintain a high academic standard.
