News From LCHS 6/10/22
Hello LCHS Family,
We are entering the final week of school! Please help make sure your students are prepared for finals and have selected all of their classes for next year in a way that you are comfortable with. Last night was our 8th grade celebration. It was a wonderful event and I really appreciate the incredible turn out. Thank you all for making this another successful year at LCHS.
Thank you,
Brian Nelson, LCHS Principal
Finals Week: It’s the last week of school, which means it’s finals week! Students will be preparing for finals in their classes on Monday and Tuesday. They will be taking finals on Wednesday and Thursday. Please help your child(ren) prepare by getting good sleep, eating healthy, and dedicating time to study at home so they can do their very best on each exam. Finals count toward 10% of students’ overall grade in each class. It’s important they are here every day to end the year strong. As a reminder, absences and finals will only be excused in rare, emergency situations. All students must take their finals.
Junior High Summer School Details: Summer school for 7th and 8th graders will be held from June 20th to June 30th, Monday through Thursday from 9am to 12pm. Students who are required to attend summer school must be in attendance every day as a part of their promotion requirement. Transportation will be provided to and from school. We mailed and sent home letters with students who will likely need to attend. Additionally, once grades are finalized, electronic communication will go home on Friday, June 17th to the families of any students required to be there. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Summer Reading: We are encouraging students to continue reading independently for 120 minutes each week over the summer. The regular practice of reading builds student vocabulary and fluency over time. We will be awarding students who have met this goal when they return in August. More details to come!
Important Dates to Start the 22-23 School Year!: The first day of school for the 22-23 school year is Monday, August 15th. Prior to then, we ask that everyone meet with their crew leader for orientation conferences on Monday, August 8th or Tuesday, August 9th. Please be looking for the electronic communication to sign up for a time online. Have a great summer and we’ll see you then!
Athletics:
Parents Please note that our regular sports seasons have ended. Please have your student athlete return their uniforms to the front office as fines will start being assessed by coaches.
Thank you!
