News From LCHS 9/30/22
Hello Lake County,
The end of the quarter approaches. Now is an excellent time to speak with your children to check in on their academic progress. At this point there is still lots of time to solve these problems before they start. Continually redirecting our youth towards their academic goals and away from distractions is key to seeing the kind of growth and progress that we all want.
We at LCHS are happy and proud to be a part of this wonderful community. We work diligently to support and encourage all of the academic pursuits, health, and well being of all the residents of Lake County. That being said, it is important to remember that our focus is growing, educating, and supporting our students. The loss of academic time we have had, attempting to help deal with situations in our community that are not related to the school have reached the point of being detrimental to the learning environment. I would plead with our community to help preserve and defend the academic space of our campus by working with us to reduce disruptions on this campus.
If you feel like the safety of our school is at risk, please contact us, and local law enforcement or go to safe2tell.org and file a report. These reports are acted on immediately, and allow us to investigate incidents, while preserving the learning environment. Thank you all for your support and help in making Lake County the best place on Earth!
Best Regards,
Brian Nelson

Dear LCSD Parents & Guardians:
We are very excited to have begun another great school year in Lake County! Here at LCSD our most important job is to keep your children safe. In our School Safety section on our website, we have important information about the tools and strategies we use to promote safe schools. This information is only to keep you informed, not to cause concern. We want you “Prepared, not scared”.
In addition to the steps we take to make our schools safe and secure, we also work hard to make sure our schools are welcoming to all students, families and community members. One of our commitments is that bullying has no place in our schools. In this Safety Section I have included a brochure documenting our bullying prevention program. This document outlines how we define bullying, and how we respond to a report of bullying behavior in one of our schools. Another commitment is to Title IX and Nondiscrimination. It is important that not only staff, but students as well understand their rights in these areas. More Information about Title IX and Nondiscrimination can also be found on the school district site at www.lakecountyschools.net or click HERE for the School Safety webpage.
Please watch for this information coming home to your mailing address or contact the district office for a hard copy.
Thank you,
Corbin Logan

The Event Attendee Lists at LCIS have been working really well to calm the atmosphere at our games and keep the focus on our athletic event. Thank you to all of you parents who have called your students in! We are now implementing this policy at LCHS events. Starting next week, students must either attend the event with an adult, or a parent must call Alison Sprague at 719-486-6954 to get them on the Event Attendee List. Students whose names are not on the Event Attendee List will be turned away at the door and will need to find a way home. RSVP’s must be called in to Alison before 2:30 pm the day of the event, or by 2:30 pm on Thursday if the event is on Friday or Saturday. We do ask that you call to add your student EACH TIME you want them to attend a sporting event.
Attention Panther fans! We are selling Frontier League passes for $60/person. This pass will get you into all games against Frontier League opponents, whether home or away. Your price will be reduced by $20 if you have already purchased a Lake County annual pass. If interested, please contact Alison Sprague at 719-486-6954 or stop by the high school office.
Here’s another reminder from our athletic handbook:
· Students must be in attendance a full day to participate in any activity scheduled for that day. Exceptions are granted with administrative approval only. A student who is absent from any class without obtaining prior approval may not participate in practice or contests on the day he/she is absent. Students who do not obtain prior approval and do participate in practice or contests will result in the loss of playing time in the next contest after the violation is verified. Thursday will count towards any competition or event held on a Friday or Saturday.
Beginning next week, we will be pulling attendance reports for athletes before competitions. If athletes have absences, they will not be allowed to participate in the competition, whether home or away.
LET’S GO PANTHERS!!
