News From LCHS 9/5/25
Dear LCHS Families,
I hope your September is starting off well. We’ve just wrapped up week four, and it’s exciting to see how our students are settling into the flow of the school year. Classrooms are feeling purposeful, and we’re noticing students leaning into learning with more confidence each day.
Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for Parent Teacher Conferences on October 15th and 16th. We’ll share more details soon, but wanted to make sure you had the dates reserved.
A couple of notes:
- PowerHub is how we will be monitoring attendance, grades, and communication with teachers. If you are not yet connected, please stop by or call our office (719.486.6950). We are happy to help get you set up.
- As a reminder, doors to the building open at 7:35AM. The vestibule is open for students starting at 7:30AM.
- We will be having an evacuation drill this coming Wednesday, September 10th. Students are going to simply walk over to our evacuation site so they know where to go in case we need to evacuate the building.
We have many valuable stakeholders in our school community: students, staff, parents, and community members. We want to let you know the best way to meet with us if you need to have a conversation, raise a concern, or would like to share praise.
One of our primary goals as a school administration team is to consistently be in classrooms and with our students and staff. This is a priority for us as an administration team. If you need to talk with one of us, the best way is to schedule a meeting through our front office staff. This way we can be sure to have time dedicated to you, without other scheduling conflicts.
If we are in classrooms and/or previously scheduled meetings, we apologize in advance that we may not be able to meet with you immediately, if you don’t have an appointment. If there are significant concerns to student or staff safety the front office can help navigate next steps.
We value time with parents and the community and also need to be present throughout the building for our students and staff. The front office has access to our calendars and are available to get you in at our next available time so we can dedicate the necessary time to you for these important conversations.
As we move forward, we’ll keep building on these routines so that every student feels both challenged and supported. The partnership between home and school is key, and your encouragement at home continues to make a real impact here at LCHS.
Wishing everyone a great weekend,
Scott Carroll

Sports Report: Last Saturday, the Lady Panther cross country team won their home invitational, besting several other larger schools. In the Salida golf tournament yesterday, Jake Cairns tied for 4th place and the team finished 4th out of 13 teams. The high school football team hosted Clear Creek last night, and our 8 athletes heroically played every snap of the game. The final score was 44-14 in favor of the Golddiggers, but the Panthers showed a lot of spirit and commitment.
We are looking for workers for our home athletic events. Depending on the event, we need gate workers, chain workers, clock workers, and people to work concessions. The worker positions are paid and can often be done while watching the event. The money made in concessions goes to our teams/clubs, so you can be part of raising funds for one of your child’s activities! If you are interested in signing up or getting more information, please email Alison Sprague at asprague@lakecountyschools.net.

LCSD Strategic Plan Survey
This fall, we are launching a community-driven strategic planning process to help guide our priorities and investments in the years ahead. We want to ensure every student is thriving—and that means listening to the ideas, hopes, and experiences of our families, staff, students, and community.
We want to hear from you. Please take a few minutes to share your perspective through our Strategic Plan Survey and help spread the word to other families and community members.
