News From LCHS 1/30/26
Dear LCHS Families,
As we close out the month of January, our building continues to show steady progress in our culture. Daily routines feel more consistent, expectations are clearer, and there is a growing sense of shared responsibility across classrooms and common spaces. These shifts do not happen all at once, but the cumulative effect is noticeable. A more focused and respectful environment creates the conditions for stronger learning and helps both students and staff do their best work each day.
Next week, our 7-10 students will participate in NWEA MAP testing. We take this assessment three times a year to measure student growth over time and to help us understand where each student is in their learning right now. NWEA is not used for grades and it is not timed. The test adjusts as students work, so some questions will feel easier and others more challenging, which is expected. We encourage families to talk with their students about taking their time, staying focused, and giving their best effort on each question. One test does not define a student, but consistent effort helps us get the most accurate picture of how to support their learning.
We are proud of our students and the way they represent our school through athletics and activities. From the high school Knowledge Bowl team earning a spot at the state meet, to our 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams qualifying for league tournaments, students continue to show commitment and teamwork. Our nordic teams had strong finishes in Steamboat at both the middle and high school levels, highlighted by top ten and podium performances. Three students have also qualified for the state slalom alpine skiing competition. It is exciting to see students succeed across so many activities and support one another along the way.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend,
