LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 2-13-26
Hello LCIS Families,
We are well into the second semester of the 25-26 school year and we are not slowing down! There were many activities this week that enhanced the learning of our students outside of the classroom. We were able to focus on spelling, printing and reading, history, and of course kindness and compassion. Read on for some of the highlights this week.
Celebrations:
Spelling Bee:
Congratulations to Ashley Sikoski, our ‘25-’26 LCIS Spelling Bee champion! Ashley was our reigning champion from ‘24-’25 and after 15 rounds of spelling, secured the title once again. Congratulations to all of the LCIS students who participated in this year’s Bee. We are very proud of each and every one of you!
Valentine’s Day:
Our students had a wonderful time decorating their Valentine’s Day card collector bags and celebrating friendship and compassion with their classmates.

Field Work:
Our 5th graders braved the cold weather to walk to Herald Democrat newspaper office on Thursday morning. This field trip aligns with their current ELA unit about The Reformation, and more specifically the invention of moveable type and the Gutenberg Printing Press. Because we live in such an amazing historic town, our students were abe to have a real-world experience with a printing press!
Pizza for a Family:
Our Attendance Pizza winner for last week was Elianna Mondragon.
Keep up that great school attendance for your chance to win pizza for your family from The Famous!
Upcoming:
100th Day of School
Get ready to step back in time! Students are invited to dress like they are 100 years old to celebrate the 100th day of school on February 23rd. Ideas to help you dress the part: Gray or white wig, cardigans/sweater vests, suspenders, shawls, bowties and pearls.
Be creative! Have Fun! Celebrate 100 days of learning at school!
February Community Meeting
On Wednesday, February 25th, our 5th graders will be leading our Community Meeting. Students will present about photosynthesis. We will also honor our scholars of the month for Compassion, our Habit of Work and Learning (HOWL) this month.
Dr. Seuss Spirit Week: March 2-5
