LCES Weekly Update 11/18/22
LCES Families,
It has been a fun week at LCES with both our Thanksgiving Lunch and our Celebration of Learning. Thank you all so much for attending these events and celebrating with us all the hard work your students have done over these first four months of school. Here are some highlights from both of these events:
Outside Ready:
Thanks for sending your student with gear to go outside everyday. If the temperature is above 10 degrees (windchill above 0), we do go outside. Students love this time outside and do great when they have the gear they need to go out. Thanks for also putting your students name on their gear so we can get it back to the right person if it is misplaced.
Kindergarten Field Work Trip:
Our Kindergarten team has started their next unit on Plants and in order to extend their learning, our kindergarten crews will be heading to C4 here in Leadville to learn more about plants and get to plant seeds. If you would like to volunteer to go with your child’s class, we are looking for 6 parents from each crew to attend. We will be loading the buses at 11:50 and returning to school by 1:15 on the following days:
Tuesday, November 29: Lenhard’s Crew
Wednesday, November 30: Bridge’s Crew
Thursday, December 1: Compean’s Crew.
If you are interested in volunteering, please call the front office to sign up.
Parent Engagement Team:
Would you like to be part of our parent engagement team? Come January 5th from 6-7 in the library here at school to learn more about what this team will look like and to start planning parent engagement opportunities for K-2 families. Thanks so much for your willingness to be a part of this team.
Thanksgiving Break:
Please remember there is no school on Wednesday, November 23rd or Thursday, November 24th in honor of Thanksgiving. Please enjoy the time with family and friends. We will see you all on Monday, November 28th.
Attendance Challenge:
We are having another attendance challenge for the months of November and December. If your child is not too ill to attend school, please make it a priority to bring them to school every day. Missing too many days can cause your child to fall behind in school and can have lifelong learning impacts. The crew from each grade level that has the best attendance percentage will get to watch a movie and have a popcorn party in the cafeteria on December 8th. Thank you for your collaboration and support surrounding your child’s attendance.
Please reach out at any time if you have any questions or concerns. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
