News from LCHS
Happy New Year and welcome back for the second semester! We are all excited to be back and have our students back in school!
Students did a great job with their new schedule this week. We have several of our highest attendance rates so far this year. This includes students at home logging in and engaging which is great. We know we need to work on our end to refine this model and make it better, but we are happy with this first week and how students seem very committed to improving their grades this semester.
This semester there is no reason to fail or not have the grades you want. Each afternoon there is time for support with your students’ crew teachers to go over their grades, figure out what tests they need to redo, and to plan for their future through research and work on their ICAP. Also, there is time to sign up for office hours and tutoring with all of their teachers. We heard from students last semester that the 1-1 and small group support was the most important thing to them during this challenging time, and so we have more time set aside for that this semester. Please insist that your students take advantage of this time, work with teachers and get the support they need to be successful!
Karate classes open this week for all different age groups, including a high school girls’ group and an adult group. Practices are in the evenings and it is a great activity to get kids out during COVID. Class sizes are small and COVID precautions are taken very seriously, including mask wearing, taking temperatures, and health screener. If any families or students are interested, please email the teacher, Miss Becky at beckyjoyedwards@gmail.com
