News From LCHS 11/08/24
Dear LCHS Families,
It is hard to believe that we are close to the end of our first semester. We have concerts and end of semester events coming up! Please look at the LCSD calendar for more information.
Finals
Final exams for semester one will be held on Wednesday, December 18th and Thursday, December 19th.
If a student/family is requesting an approved early final, the request must be submitted by Monday, December 2nd.. The semester 1 approved early final date will be Friday, December 13th starting at 8:00AM. For students who may need to take their finals at different time, families must meet with the administration team to present their request and discuss next steps. The final decision will be made by the administration team and communicated to the family. These decisions will be approved on a very limited basis. In the case of medical emergencies, a doctor’s note and/or meeting may be required. Not following these procedures could result in a zero for the final exam portion of the students final grade. The request form is available in the front office beginning Monday, November 18th. Please call the front office at 719.486.6950 for more information.
Drop-off Zone
Students who are being dropped off in the front of the school should only be dropped off through the lower drop off lane next to the school. Please do not drop students off in the upper lane that flows towards LCIS due to safety concerns for students.
Attendance
As we near the end of the semester, it is important that your student is attending regularly to make sure they are prepared for the end of the semester and final exams. We saw a drop in attendance last week and hope that we can bring those numbers back up. Remember, if your student is going to be absent please call the front office to have them excused.
Attendance Data (Week of 10/28)
7/8: 89%
9/10: 82%
11/12: 81%
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend,

Sports Report: The HS girls’ cross country team is State Runner-up!! Their top 4 runners all finished in the top 20, and they brought home another huge trophy! Congrats, ladies!!
HS volleyball qualified for the playoffs! They will play Colorado Springs Christian School and Fowler on Saturday at CSCS. First game at 11 am.
As we wrap up the fall sports seasons, I am inviting parent and student input on how our programs are doing and ways that we can improve. The survey has been sent to all high school fall sport athletes and parents, except for volleyball, which will be sent out next week. If you haven’t received it, please email me (apeters@lakecountyschools.net), and I will send you the link. Thanks for taking a few minutes to complete the survey. I appreciate your feedback!
The middle school girls’ basketball schedule is posted on the athletic calendar (https://chsaa.rschooltoday.com/public/genie/1518/school/445/). The season will run from December 9 through February 7, but the team is already holding open gyms on Sundays from 4-6 pm at the LCIS gym. Email msgirlsbasketball@lakecountyschools.net for more information.
High school basketball and wrestling begin on Monday, November 18! That is also the CHSAA regain date for those sports. If your student failed 2 or more classes last spring and did not make up credits through summer school or regain their eligibility during a fall sport, then they need to regain eligibility on November 18. We will check grades on Nov 18, and athletes who need to regain eligibility must be passing ALL their classes, or they will NOT be ineligible to play basketball or wrestle this winter. This CHSAA policy is a little confusing, so email me with questions.
Parent/athlete preseason basketball meeting on Thursday, November 14, 6 pm at the LCHS cafeteria. This is an important meeting for any HS boys and girls interested in playing basketball this winter.
LET’S GO PANTHERS!!

A message from our Drama Department
Auditions for The Spring Musical and the Winter One Act Festival are open for submissions! See the QR code or use the link here to access the form where you will submit a video audition.
The selection of the musical will not be announced until after auditions and will be based on participation.
Remember, there are LIMITED 3rd-5th grade slots. The Spring Musical is a LCHS production that sometimes has the need for younger students. Participating in the audition process is a great experience and prepares students for future auditions. Backstage Crew interviews will not be until the spring for both productions.
The Winter One Act Festival is only open for 7th-12th grade students. These productions will also be announced after auditions.
Nov. 5 All Video submissions must be sent-no late submissions will be accepted
