CCHS News and Announcements
SAT and PSAT exams April 13th
The SAT exam for 11th grade students and the PSAT exams for 9th and 10th grade students will be administered at CCHS on Wednesday, April 13th. Students who have opted out of taking these exams and have turned in the required signed and completed opt-out form do not need to attend school that day. Those students taking the exams will attend school at the normal 10:30 am time (be on time!) and will be dismissed after the exams.
CCHS Job Exploration Activity at Copper Mountain
On April 14 we will be taking all the students to a job exploration activity at Copper Mountain. We will leave CCHS @ 9am and return before 2:30 pm. School will be dismissed at that time. Reminder: for students to be eligible to attend off campus/school events such as field trips, prom, etc., you must have a demonstrated ability to be trustworthy on campus every day.
Senior Scholarship Night — Thursday, April 21 7:00 pm LCHS. This is the night that seniors will be awarded their local scholarships, including Leadville Trail 100.
Workforce Readiness Bootcamp runs from May 2- June 2 for Seniors and from May 2- June 16 for underclassmen. Students will be expected to be in school all day (10am-5:30pm) Tuesdays-Thursdays. We will be breaking into groups according to student interest and/or chosen career cluster to engage in projects designed to develop skills and provide work experience for our students. Students will need to apply and interview for their area of choice. Students who have full time jobs that can be documented through Work Based Learning contracts and Work Logs will not need to attend daily, but instead maintain their log. They will need to show that their resume is complete and that they know how to fill out a job application in order to be dismissed from the daily activities of the Bootcamp. Please contact Heather with any questions related to this final segment of the CCHS student calendar.

Prom is being discussed among CCHS Students and Staff and one of the main topics is whether there is enough student interest in this event for us to hold it. In order to gauge interest, we ask that any interested student pay their $5 to hold their spot. If we are able to get 30 interested people (any combination of CCHS students and their dates) by April 15, we will hold a Prom at the Elks Lodge from 7pm-12am on May 21. If we are not able to get enough interested students to commit by April 15, we will refund the money that has been paid to those students. Any date that a student chooses must be under the age of 21 in order to attend.

Colorado youth now have access to 3 free behavioral health sessions! Any parent or youth can go to https://imattercolorado.org/ to assess their own/their child’s needs. If the results show they need help, the site will connect them to a provider for a 45-minute appointment in the next two weeks.

Outward Bound is offering a free backpacking trip to LGBTQ+ youth this summer in California. Outward Bound LGBTQ+ coursesare designed for LGBTQ+ teens to build community and cultivate self-efficacy through service-learning, leadership development, and self-discovery in natural environments. This course is staffed with Instructors who have lived experiences with and demonstrated support for the LGBTQ+ community. Staff strive to create a safe space for teens who have experienced being marginalized due to their identity, and/or are exploring their sexual and/or gender identity to build community and cultivate self-efficacy. Students should expect a traditional Outward Bound course structure, where they’ll learn technical skills and take responsibility for daily activities, while also developing relationships and building community with other LGBTQ+ youth. The program provides full-tuition scholarships for highly motivated LGBTQ+ youth from under-resourced communities to attend an Outward Bound wilderness course.
