Lake County High School’s Performing Arts Department is happy to announce their production of SHREK THE MUSICAL!
This production is presented with the support of the Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation as the Title Sponsor. Premier Sponsors include Aspen Leaf Realty, Independence Realty, Centennial Real Estate, The City of Leadville, Climax Molybdenum, and Treeline Kitchen. Contributing sponsors include the Leadville Arts Coalition, Leadville Colorado and Southern Railroad. Additionally, an anonymous donor contributed generous funds to the production.
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek the Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there’s more to the story than meets the ears.
“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek….” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand… and his name is Shrek.
The production is directed by Scott Carroll and Dylan Rodwick with musical direction by Celesta Cairns.

Lake County High School Performing Arts Artistic Director Scott Carroll says, “We have been waiting for the right moment to produce this hysterical musical. We are so proud of the entire cast and crew and cannot wait to present this work of musical theatre to the community. We could not do this without the generous support of our sponsors and our loyal patrons. We hope to see you this year at Shrek the Musical!”
