What a wonderful Workforce Boot Camp we had on Wednesday! We missed the students who chose not to participate, but as always, alternative activities were available at school for those not attending the trip.
Students had an incredible opportunity to learn about ranching life at Coombs Ranch, and they were such wonderful hosts for our students. Throughout the day, students helped load and transport barley for feed, saw pigs, chickens, quail, and cows, and supported in rounding up cows from the pasture and helping corral them. They also observed, with some students choosing to participate in, the dehorning of a few cows. It was truly a valuable hands-on learning experience that provided insight into careers in agriculture. They fed the students hamburgers that they process themselves from the beef they raise.
Afterward, students enjoyed time at Hooper Hot Springs with swimming and good food to wrap up the day.
Next week will be a shortened week due to no school on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. We will resume our normally scheduled classes on Tuesday, May 26th.
Graduates — we are down to five days to complete everything before your final Portfolio Defense. All graduates must be fully signed off and have all requirements completed in order to participate in the graduation ceremony by 4:00PM on June 4, 2026. Crew teachers have been reaching out, and parents/guardians may also hear directly from me if your student is at risk of not meeting the deadline.
Have a wonderful extended weekend, and we look forward to seeing all students back at their normal scheduled time on Tuesday!

Mental Health Matters This May
May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a great time to check in on your student’s emotional well-being. Stress, anxiety, and end-of-year transitions can impact how students feel and perform. The School-Based Health Centers through Elevated Community Health are here to support students with a safe, supportive space and access to care right on campus.
Looking ahead to summer, select School-Based Health Centers will remain open, so students can continue receiving care even when school is out.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 970-710-5049.

The CE team at CMC has been working hard to run another FAFSA/CASFA event to help remove barriers to access our Locals’ scholarships (many outside scholarships require this be completed as well). CMC is currently running a national survey to collect data on our CE student experience. Please complete the survey here: family survey
