Project Dream Information for Lake County High School & Cloud City High School

Project Dream programs are a part of Lake County Schools, and we are excited to provide enriching programs for your students. Students are expected to apply the norms for behavior and participation they are used to during the school day at Project Dream. All Project Dream programs for students grades 7-12 will take place at LCHS and nearby outdoor spaces, unless otherwise communicated. Project Dream at LCHS is “Drop In,” meaning students can come any day without prior notice. Attendance for Project Dream programs is taken daily. A waiver must be signed for every student who attends programming.

Project Dream Calendar

Year Calendar: Updated 8/13/2026, see calendar here: https://www.lakecountyschools.net/program-registration/

Friday Field Trips: field trips will be announced throughout the school year as trips are confirmed.

Program Policies

Parent Pick-up & Drop-off

When picking up your child in the evening, you will need to come to the main entrance of Lake County Intermediate School school and sign your student out.

  • For afterschool programs, students must be picked up by 6:00 pm.
  • For Friday programs, students must be picked up by 3:30 pm.

Friday drop-off

  • All-day: 7:45a – 8:00 am

Late Pickup: A student who is picked up late more than two times in a calendar month will not be allowed to attend their next scheduled program day. A student who is picked up late more than three times in a calendar month will have their number of weekly program days reduced by one for the remainder of the month. If we are unable to contact a parent or emergency contact within 30 minutes, the Department of Human Services will be called.

Attendance

In the event of multiple unexcused absences Project Dream reserves the right to reduced days or drop registration. If there is a waiting list at that time, they will be placed on the bottom of the waiting list if they wish to rejoin. Students who receive an in-school or out-of-school suspension during the school day, or have otherwise gone home for the day due to a health or wellness reason, are not permitted to attend afterschool programs that day.

School Dismissal and Program Arrival

LCES (grades K-5) students must be registered to attend afterschool programs. Registered LCES students will take a district bus from LCES to LCIS for afterschool programs. Project Dream staff and school day staff will escort students in grades K-2 directly from classrooms to the afterschool bus. Students in grades 3-5 will be dismissed from their classrooms and walk themselves to the afterschool bus. LCHS/CCHS (grades 6-12) who choose to attend drop-in afterschool programs will meet at LCHS with Project Dream or partner program staff to be escorted from LCHS/CCHS to LCIS. Parents are welcome to call Project Dream Administrator phones at any time to check on their child’s attendance.

Registration

Afterschool programs for grades 6-12 are drop-in. Friday field trips will have individual sign-up periods for each trip throughout the year, and we will confirm with parents when students sign up.

All students in grades 6-12 need to have a completed waiver to participate.

Behavior Guidelines

The purpose of our programs is to provide a positive, enriching environment for children. As a program of the Lake County School District, Project Dream aligns with the administrative policies of the district and expectations for student behavior as determined by each school. Project Dream seeks to support the behavior expectations of Lake County School District through implementation of a restorative justice approach. However, Project Dream often has less ability to support student behavior and positive participation due to the nature of employing part-time youth development workers. Decisions regarding disciplinary actions and program participation reflect the unique context of Project Dream programs and staffing.

Disciplinary actions are determined by the Student Coordinator in consultation with the Out-of-School Time Director. Possible disciplinary actions include: early pickup, suspension, day reduction, and permanent suspension.

In the case of any physical altercations or incidents, Project Dream will notify parents that they need to arrange for an immediate pickup of their student. Project Dream will follow up after the incident to discuss further consequences.

In most cases, minor disciplinary actions resulting from Project Dream programs do not result in disciplinary consequences during the school day. However, Students who receive an in-school or out-of-school suspension during the school day are not permitted to attend afterschool programs that day. In addition, Project Dream supervisors and administrators will collaborate with school building administrators to determine the appropriateness of continued attendance for Project Dream programs based on student behavior.
