Dear LCES Families and Guardians,
We are feeling so much gratitude this week! Thank you for the incredibly strong participation in parent-teacher conferences. We are so grateful for the time, care, and commitment you continue to show in supporting your children.
The partnership between home and school is one of the most important pieces of student success, and we are thankful to have such dedicated families working alongside us. When we come together, communicate openly, and share in the responsibility of helping our kids grow, amazing things happen!
Thank you for trusting us with your children, for showing up, and for being such an important part of our school community. We are truly grateful to be on this journey together!
Transportation Update: There will now be a route 10 and 14 again. If your child rides either of these routes, please plan for an earlier arrival time for both morning and afternoon.
Quick dismissal note: Unless prearranged through the front office or in the event of an emergency, please refrain from picking up your student early or after 3:05. Dismissal begins at 3:30. The end of the day is a very busy time for the front office and we want to be respectful of the coordination it takes to get all students where they need to be for their dismissal plans. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Have a wonderful weekend, Panther families!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the DAC Potluck!
We want to send a huge thank you to every family member who contributed delicious food and drink to our annual District Accountability Committee potluck during conferences! The spreads were simply incredible and teachers and staff were very appreciative. We are so grateful!

Students who participate in the reading challenge will enter our raffle to win a basket with books and activities (one per grade level). Have fun reading…’Grow your world and read every day!’

The Center Specifics
Dear Preschool Families,
It was great to see our families and teachers conferencing together this week. We know that a strong partnership between school and home helps children thrive. Thank you for taking the time to connect with us!
We want to make families aware of two changes in our procedure for adding or removing an adult from your child’s pick up list.
- Adding an individual – if you are adding or removing someone to your child’s pick up list and this is a permanent change, we now have a form for you to complete. Forms are available in the front office, with preschool leadership, in all classrooms, and with bus monitors. Please note that per Colorado licensing requirements we need address and phone number information for any adult that is added to your child’s list.
- Day of changes – we know things happen! If you need to make a day of change to your child’s pick up list and you have not been able to complete our change form. Please continue to call and let us know. We ask that you call by noon so that we can get the information to teachers and staff. The numbers to call for these types of changes are:
- Marissa Martinez: 719-427-7075
- Raquel Contreras: Cell:719-293-1403 Yo Hablo Español
- LCES Front Office: 719-486-6890

Classroom News!
We are starting some new learning in our preschool classrooms this next week. For Social Emotional instruction, our program will be focusing on Emotional Literacy for the next several weeks. This is a fancy way of saying, we are focusing on FEELINGS! Preschoolers will be learning 8 main feelings: happy, sad, mad, frustrated, excited, nervous/worried, proud, and loved. Each week we will teach 2 feelings. Classrooms will:
- Talk about each feeling
- Model the feeling using facial expressions and body language
- Share examples
- And do other activities to practice
We want children to recognize these big feelings in themselves when they occur and then start to recognize them in others too! We will send home more information in yellow folders in the upcoming weeks.
We are also starting our CKLA Families and Communities domain. During this domain children will learn about families and how they love us and help us grow and change! Children will learn all kinds of words to describe families and explore different family traditions and celebrations. Please see your child’s October Home To School Connections activities for a family activity that you can complete at home to share with your child’s classroom during this unit.
For letters, we reviewed the ones we have learned so far. M, F, A, and B. We will start with a new letter next week. Stay tuned!
