As we enter the season of gratitude and celebration, I want to express my thanks for your support and partnership. I look forward to seeing many of you in our schools for our annual Thanksgiving lunch celebrations.
Panther Spotlight
The November Panther Spotlight is devoted to the awesome seasonal spirit we saw around the district last week. From staff costumes, to Kindergarten-5th grade buddy costume coordination, to Mr. Ferrer’s annual Ofrenda, it was a great reminder that school culture is about more than academic learning. It is also about having fun and honoring cultural traditions of all kinds. Thank you to all who got into the spirit!

Superintendent Transition Next Year
As the season begins to shift, I want to let you know that I will be retiring from LCSD at the end of the 2026-27 school year, marking the end of my 12th year in the district. It has been the honor of my life to work in service to all of you in a variety of leadership roles in LCSD.
The three years I have spent in the Superintendent role have marked a period of significant change and improvement for the district. I am so proud of the work the entire team, and the whole Lake County community, has done to get behind our schools and lean into the challenge of transformation.
With all of our schools rated “green;” the district having made the largest overall improvement in the state in 2026; our school campuses consolidated; our finances stabilized; and our strategic plan complete, there is so much to celebrate. Families and the community can take solace in the knowledge that the district is in a strong position with an incredible team of educators in place.
I know the Board of Education will do an excellent job leading the search for the next LCSD Superintendent. In the meantime, I am looking forward to the remainder of the school year. I don’t intend to slow down on the work we are doing, and I remain as committed as ever to you and our students.
With gratitude,
Kate
