Child Find is part of the public school system and is a process to help identify children who have a suspected disability or developmental delay. If a child is not meeting expected milestones and there is a concern about their development or learning a referral can be made to Child Find. Steps could include collecting information from parents, teachers, developmental screenings, and/or completing a special education evaluation. If the child is found eligible for special education services, the team will develop an IEP or individual education plan that includes goals and services in order to support the child while in school.
This free service is open to any Lake County family, whether you are currently enrolled in an LCSD program or not.
