LCES Families, Fall is in the air in Leadville bringing cooler mornings, with even some leaves changing. This time of the year is so special as we are in the full swing of school now and students are learning so much each and every day. A friendly reminder to send a sweater or jacket with your student as the temperature swings can happen fast here in the mountains. We will not have school on Monday, September 1 as we are closed for observance of Labor Day. This year, Lake County School District has put together a committee of staff, parents, and community members to discuss the calendar for the 2026-2027 school year. The goal of this committee is to recommend a calendar that best meets the needs of our students, staff, parents, and community to the LCSD school board. The committee has put together a survey to get input. You can take the survey by following this link: https://forms.gle/LZ8Xe5zFjn8H3ijZ6. We hope to have all responses by September 8, 2025. Thank you for your time and consideration! We hope you and your family have a wonderful long weekend and we look forward to seeing you back to school on Tuesday! Specials Update: As you may have noticed, we currently have a music instructional paraprofessional position open. If you know of anyone who is musically inclined and loves working with children, we would love for you to encourage them to apply. In the meantime, Mrs. Fabian is covering our music classes and I can assure you meaningful music lessons connected to grade level standards are being taught in each grade. Mrs. Bridge, the former music teacher, is excited to be back in the classroom this fall in 2nd grade. Ms. Frattolin is covering Mrs. Bridge’s maternity leave through the middle of September and then Ms. Frattolin is thrilled to be the art teacher for the school year. DIBELS Testing: This week we began our beginning of the year DIBELS assessments. These tests help us measure how well kids are learning and gives us a direction on interventions for the school year. This assessment is also important because it is influential in making big decisions for our district regarding student performance. We will finish testing all students the first week of September and thank you for talking with your student about doing their best at school! We look forward to sharing these assessment results with you at parent teacher conferences in October. PowerHub: This year we have transitioned all communication, grades, and payments to our online student information system, PowerSchool. Please do not make any payments with EFunds, our previous system. If you need assistance using the PowerSchool app, please call our front office at 719-486-6890 or email Ms. Zee (zalmeida@lakecountyschools.net). We are here to help and support this process. Quick note about safety- please use SLOW speeds in our parking lots, especially during drop off and pick up times. Attendance: Congratulations to our first pizza attendance challenge winner! We hope your family enjoys some delicious pizza and thank you for having zero absences the first three weeks of school! Remember to use the attendance tracking calendar at home with your student to help your student keep on track for all of the fun challenges and prizes we have regarding attendance this year. See details about our semester 1 attendance challenge in the fliers section below and keep an eye out for details about our next pizza attendance challenge soon! |

Hello preschool families, The rain this week brought the opportunity for classrooms to experience all three of our playground spaces. The indoor playground is used for inclement weather..The outdoor playground allows for 2 classrooms to interact and play at the same time. The outdoor classroom is for 1 classroom and has a variety of toys and materials for varied play. Our playground spaces are reserved for school use during the operating hours of 7:30am-6:00pm, which also includes extended hours and after school programming. We ask for your cooperation in utilizing these spaces only after the listed hours or on the weekends. We do go outside daily unless there is inclement weather. There has been a little more chill in the air this week, please send a jacket or sweatshirt with your child to school every day so that they can play outside comfortably. It is always helpful to have your child’s belongings clearly labeled so we can be sure things are returned to you as needed. We will be starting our CKLA curriculum next week. The first domain is called “All About Me.” Children will learn words to describe themselves, they will learn to name body parts, and they will learn to sing the nursery rhyme “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.” Enjoy your long weekend! We will see you Tuesday!.Tanya Lenhard, Director719-486-6928 (work); 719-293-1055 (cell)tdlenhard@lakecountyschools.net |
