Upcoming!
Community Meeting 9/24/25 – Join us!
6th Graders will be hosting our September Community Meeting on Wednesday, 9/24 at 8:05 in the LCIS Gym. Students will be sharing original writing pieces that focus on a special moment in time. They have worked hard to draw in the reader by using precise language and vivid sensory details. The excerpts are sure to captivate you. You won’t want to miss it!
This month we will also celebrate the Scholars of the Month for the Habit of Responsibility. Our targets for this HOWL are,
- I take care of myself, others, and our environment.
- I take ownership of my learning, my actions and my mistakes.
Talk with your child about how they show the HOWL of responsibility at school, at home, and in our community.
Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences 10/15 & 10/16
Hold the dates for fall conferences which will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 15 & 16. Students will attend school for ½ day in the mornings and have an early dismissal with school ending at 11:15. Conferences will be held in 30-minute increments during the afternoons. More information to come soon!
IXL Homework Update
Students solved almost 30,000 questions on IXL this past week! We can see that many students are completing their homework-fantastic! Be sure to encourage your child to work on their recommended skills so that they can grow at their level for both ELA and Math. Each week we will be celebrating the students who have made the most growth that week. We will announce our first round of winners on Monday.
Attendance Update
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! We are excited to partner with you in helping your child learn, grow, and succeed. One of the most important factors in your child’s success is regular school attendance. When students are present and engaged, they are more likely to stay on track academically, socially, and emotionally. We recognize that illnesses and emergencies can occur, and we aim to collaborate with you to overcome any barriers to attendance. Nonetheless, it is important to note that Colorado law and district policy mandate regular school attendance for all students. Parents are always welcome to reach out to teachers or building administrators to discuss what factors are leading to student absences and how parents and school staff can partner to find solutions. This year, we will continue to monitor attendance carefully and communicate with you as needed.
Here is how our attendance process will work:
● 2-4 absences (excused or unexcused) – You will receive a friendly reminder call from the school, along with tips and resources to support consistent attendance.
● 5-9 absences – You will receive a postcard reminder.
● 10 absences – You will receive a letter from the school, along with tips and resources to support consistent attendance.
● 15 absences – The school will schedule a meeting with you to discuss reasons for absences, create an attendance success plan, and connect you with community resources if needed.
● 20 absences – The district may refer the case for further review in accordance with Colorado’s compulsory attendance laws. At this point, we will work closely with you to create a formal attendance improvement plan.
Why Attendance Matters:
● Missing just two days of school per month adds up to over three weeks missed in a school year.
● Regular attendance helps your child build strong relationships with peers and teachers, develop important skills, and be better prepared for their future.
We are here to help. If you are facing challenges that make regular attendance difficult, please reach out to your child’s school. Our family liaisons, counselors, or school administrators can help problem-solve and connect you with resources.
Thank you for making school attendance a top priority this year. By working together, we can ensure every child in the Lake County School District has the opportunity to thrive. We look forward to a wonderful school year with your family!
