Students — continue to show up for school, log in to your classes, buckle down, and complete your work as we head into Spring break. Then you will start Spring break with that free feeling to enjoy your time off and have no concerns about finishing any missed school work.
A huge shout out to the LCHS Nordic skiers who competed in the CHSAA Colorado State Championships last weekend! Five girls competed for Lake County: Rose Horning, Adele Horning, Elona Greene, Brynna Lenhard, and Violet Hill. Rose took first place in the classic race and second place in the skate. The girls came in third place as a team in both classic and skate.
Three LCHS boys competed in the Nordic championships as well: Jace Peters, Matt Cairns, and Josiah Horning. Jace placed fifth in the classic race and eleventh in the skate. The boys came in eighth as a team in both the classic and skate races. Congratulations to all of our Nordic skiers!
Congratulations to the HS Boys Basketball Team! They moved on to the second round playoff game in the CHSAA State Tournament after outscoring Atlas Preparatory School 53-52 in the first round playoff game on Tuesday. They play at Limon at 6:00pm on Thursday, March 11.
Kudos to our seven LCHS skiers who competed in the Colorado Ski League Ski Meister competition at Steamboat on Tuesday: Avery Milne, Michaela Main, Keira King, Clara Kirr, Matt Cairns, Jace Peters, and Josiah Horning. This year all four race events: two Nordic — classic and skate; and two alpine — slalom and giant slalom; all took place on the same day. To qualify for the competition, skiers must have competed in at least three Nordic races and three alpine races during the season. In the girls’ competition: Michaela Main placed 6th; Keira King, 12th; Avery Milne, 13th; and Clara Kirr, 14th. In the boys’ competition: Jace Peters placed 5th, Matt Cairns, 8th; and Josiah Horning 16th. Congratulations Ski Meisters!
