LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 4-11-25
Hello LCIS Panthers,
We will continue to take the CMAS assessments this week. This past week, students did a fantastic job focusing on their tests, reading the questions carefully, and solving problems on their scratch paper. Many students earned a perseverance ticket for their effort and focus while taking the test and were entered into a drawing for a prize. At the end of the month all tickets will be entered into a drawing for a chance to go to a Rockies game in May. Good luck to all our panthers!
Continue to encourage your child to do their best on these assessments. We use the results of these tests to better understand what they know and still need to learn.
Students will take the CMAS assessments on their Chromebooks therefore we are asking that students leave their Chromebooks at school for the duration of the tests so that we know that they are charged and ready to go. This means, no IXL homework during this time. Please still encourage your child to read everyday and talk with them about the tests.
On Wednesday, 4/23, LCIS will host a Mobile Earth & Space Observatory (MESO). 3rd and 5th graders will have the opportunity to engage in science programming focused on space and gravity. These grade levels have been studying astronomy in their STEM classes and this will be an awesome opportunity to learn even more about outer space!
From the School Nurse: Colleen Nielsen, RN Colorado has had its first reported Measles case this week. Measles is more than just a rash. It is a serious respiratory illness that can cause lifelong problems like hearing loss, brain damage, and even death. Measles is preventable with a vaccine. Please reach out to your provider to check on your student’s vaccination status. If measles was to be found in our student population, your student will be excluded if not fully vaccinated. If you have questions, please email me at cnielsen@lakecountyschools.net
We’re taking a break from IXL homework during our CMAS testing.
Yet we still have some students logging in to practice skills- way to go!
This week’s IXL Skills Mastered Group!
I’m Here For It!
Grade levels will be competing to see which class has the highest percentage of attendance for the month of April. The grade level with the best attendance will earn Free Play Time. Those students from the winning class who are at school every single day in April will also be invited to enjoy an exclusive, sugar free treat. So, set your alarms, show up every day, and win some free time with your friends!
Project Dream Updates:
Project Dream is hiring a part time position to drive the Activity Bus for afterschool and Friday programs! Many Project Dream families say how helpful it is to have free transportation for our programs, and we need your help continuing this service.
Pay is $20-$26.50/hour dependent upon experience, average 20 hours per week, no CDL required. If you know anyone who might be interested, please share this job post with them: https://www.lakecountyschools.net/blog/2025/03/18/lcsd-is-seeking-a-driver-for-project-dream-programs-no-cdl-required/
