LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 6-20-25
Hello LCIS Panthers!
Thank you for a wonderful year of learning and fun at LCIS. Our last day of school was incredibly joyful as we celebrated our 6th graders who are moving on to the Junior High this fall. It was with mixed emotions that we said goodbye to them and we are both excited for their future and sad to see them go. They are truly a special group of students and we know that they will achieve great things as they continue their educational journey.
We are incredibly proud of all our students for the growth that they made in both their reading and math skills. Our DIBELS reading data showed that 74% of our students made average or above average growth on their reading, and our NWEA MAPS data shows that students continued to make growth and achieve at higher levels in both reading and math. Fantastic work, Panthers!
This summer can be a great time for your child to keep up with their academics by simply reading and playing games.
- Our public library is offering a fun summer reading challenge called, Color Our World. Check it out and sign up your child here! They also offer many other activities and events for kids all throughout the summer.
- Building and maintaining math skills can be simple and fun! Every time your child is rolling the dice in a board game or playing cards, they are working on their math skills.
Your child can also continue to work on their IXL ELA and Math skills as they brought home their sign in card. Students are able to use this login information on any device to access their IXL account. They don’t need Clever. IXL is great because your child has a learning plan that is individually targeted to meet their needs.
Students were able to take advantage of the lovely weather during the last week of school by participating in Field Day, FFROGS activities with our high school students, and our HOWL rewards.
Have you ever dreamed of having a movie theater in Leadville? The Tabor Opera House has too. With support from our visitor center, The Tabor Opera House is piloting a film series this coming October and we need your help! We invite youth, kids and their families to nominate your favorite family friendly films that you’d like to watch at the Tabor this coming October. The movies with the most nominations will be put on a ballot for the community to vote on.
Each student is encouraged to nominate between 1-3 films. Need inspo? You can browse movies here NOMINATE
