News From LCHS 4/28/23
Good Morning LCHS families!
As we approach the end of the school year, it is crucially important to focus on good attendance, getting to class on time, and dealing with one another with grace. This is no time to get complacent. This time of year we all get tired, but we need to power through, and persevere. Rest up this weekend and return on Monday ready to work hard!
Also please note that our annual district wide art show has changed locations this year to LCES. Please see the flier in this communication for further details!
Thank you,
Brian Nelson,
LCHS Principal

Should School Board members be paid? We want to hear from you. |
The State of Colorado passed a new law (HB21-1055) that allows for a district to consider paying future School Board Members. The Lake County School Board sees the benefit in allowing pay for board members to recruit and attract community members who may otherwise have financial barriers to serving on the Board. We would like to hear your thoughts on the idea of compensating school board members. Please provide your input by May 15. You are also invited to share your input during public participation at upcoming school board meetings. These meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of the month at 6:30PM at the District Administration Office (315 W. 5th Street). We appreciate your input. |

Despite cold and windy weather, our spring sports/activities are doing well. We currently have almost 20 HS track & field athletes in position to qualify for the state meet, which will be held in Denver on May 18-20. HS girls’ soccer traveled to Pinnacle last Saturday. Despite having only 9 players, they fought hard and lost a close game 4-3. Our cast for The Sound of Music is working diligently and will have a terrific show for our community May 11-13. You can get your tickets now at https://lakecountyhs.booktix.com. Both MS soccer teams have a win and a tie in their 3 games this season.
Open gyms for middle school girls’ basketball will be on Sundays from 6-8 pm at the LCIS gym. 5th grade girls are invited to attend, but a parent will need to sign the Assumption of Risk form when they drop them off at practice. Please come in with your 5th grade student the first time she attends.
Order forms for athletic pictures can be found here!
