News From LCHS 9/15/23
Dear LCHS Community,
It is hard to believe we are already in the middle of September! We continue to see good things happening across the building. While there was an incident that occurred on Wednesday in the gym, school, learning, and engagement continued to happen. We are proud of our students and the way they handled the situation.
Attendance Competition: Next week, we will begin our three week attendance competition! This will be done by academy grade levels (7/8, 9/10, and 11/12). At the end of three weeks the crews that win will each get a movie/snack/treat celebration party. We will announce this to students on Monday!
We would like to see our attendance data continue to improve!
Data Celebration:
We met our On Time goal AGAIN this week with 91% of our students being on time 96% of the time.
We also continue to see our mark data (reasons students can get lunch detention) decrease! Here is a graph of the past six weeks.
We are seeing alot of building wide improvements over the past six weeks and look forward to continued improvement and refinement!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend,
Scott Carroll

Senior Parent Letter:
Hello Parents of the Class of 2024!
Welcome to your child’s senior year. I know that thinking about all the steps to plan for next year can feel confusing and overwhelming. I will do my best to communicate all the things we are doing at the high school to support you and your child as you navigate this next year. To begin, I want to let you know about upcoming events that you should put on your calendar.

Sept.12 | CCH/CR College Fair | 10:15-11:15 am | LCHS Gym | Flier with info and registration QR |
Oct. 1 | Colorado Western Slope College Fair | 10:00 am- 2:00 pm | Aspen, CO | Link to info and registration |

Colorado Free Application Days this year is Oct. 17th -19th. If students submit their application to almost any school in Colorado during this time, their application fee will be waived. Students have started working with Mr. Remsen and I to fill out college applications. Ideally all college applications should be submitted by the end of October.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is making changes to their application. Here is a link to an article with more information. The date for when the application will open has not been set- it will most likely be sometime in December.
More information about financial aid including FAFSA/CASFA and scholarships will be sent out later this fall. In the meantime feel free to contact me with any questions!
Sincerely,
Kelly Hofer

September Breakfast and Lunch Menu
Athletics
It’s hard to believe we are quickly approaching our senior recognition nights. Come out and support the HS Football team! Their last home game for the season is on Monday, September 18th, at the Community Field. The game starts at 4pm and we will be recognizing the senior football players and their families at halftime for a great season.
This year we will be charging for ALL GYM sporting events- high school and middle school.
Ticket prices will be $7/adults and $5/seniors for HS games and $3/adults and $1/seniors for MS games. We will NOT be taking cash at the front door, but we will take credit cards at the door.
You can also buy your tickets online in advance at: https://gofan.co/app/school/CO11697
The Lake County Annual Pass will get you into any home event- HS or MS, volleyball or basketball.
Reminder: Lake County students will need to show their school ID to get free entry into the volleyball games. We are also asking parents of 6-8th graders to call 719-486-6950 and give permission for their student to attend the volleyball games unaccompanied. Please call by 3 pm on game day.
LET’S GO PANTHERS!!

Blood Drive:
During National Preparedness Month in September, Vitalant reminds all eligible donors giving blood is vital to ensuring an adequate supply is ready to help save lives every day, and when a natural or manmade disaster strikes.
Most people are eligible to donate blood, yet only about 3% do. The more people who step up, the more we can avoid delays in patient care.
