Snowplow Naming Contest
The county is having an inaugural “SnowPlow Naming Contest” and our 7-12 students are going to be providing the options!
- Our 7-12 students will be submitting up to three names on a google form this coming Monday. The plow and county are scheduled to be out front on Monday with the new snowplow.
- A committee at the county will narrow down the options. It will be between 10-20 names. They are still deciding.
- A survey will go out to the entire community for them to vote on the top three.
- There are three snowplows that they are going to name. Plaques will be put on them.
- There will be prizes in gift cards! 1st place will be $200, 2nd place will be $100, and 3rd place will be $50.
- The 1st place winner will get a ride along in the new snowplow with parent permission.
- We are still figuring out how the winner will be recognized but it will be in early March.
Hallways / Restrooms
Today at our professional development day our building leadership team and administration presented to teachers that help was needed to get our students back on track with hallway and restroom use. We have seen more students spending too much time in the hallway and/or bathroom. To assist in this, teachers will be working in the hallway for one period a week to help redirect and change habits of our students. We have seen an influx of behaviors that need to be addressed and get students back into their classrooms. To this point, we encourage you to have a conversation with your student about the following expectations:
Student Expectations
– Students must have a valid smartpass when leaving the classroom.
– Students should remain on the floor they are on for the restroom and drinking fountain.
– Students need to return to class within 6 minutes. Students are given 24 minutes of opportunity to use the restroom etc.. during the day.
– Students should not argue with your teacher when they are being redirected. They are doing their job to help! If admin/support staff have to be called, consequences will escalate..
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend,

Athletics
We are entering the final weeks of winter sports! Our MS girls’ basketball team plays in their final tournament tomorrow at Homestake Peak. The 6th grade team won their tournament last Saturday! The HS alpine team will compete in the State Meet next Thursday and Friday at Loveland Ski Resort. HS Nordic will travel to Snow Mountain Ranch for State on Feb 22/23. ALL of our HS girls and half of our boys have qualified to compete!
Even as the snow falls, we are making plans for spring sports. High school girls’ soccer and high school track & field will begin practices on Monday, February 26. We are trying to get a head count for those teams, so if your student is planning to participate, we would appreciate if you or your student would complete the appropriate form:
