LCIS SNSO 5-17-20
Dear LCIS Families,
It’s hard to believe that our school year is coming to an end. Needless to say, our last quarter of school, and everyday life, was like nothing any of us could have imagined. I want to personally thank you for all that you have done over these past two months with supporting your child with his/her at-home learning. From picking up the packets, nudging them to get onto the Google Classroom and submit those assignments, to reading daily with your child, you have made a difference! I value our partnership. If you’d like to share your successes, challenges or ideas for the future with me, please reach out to me (in Spanish or English) via email at ctalbot@lakecountyschools.net.
The online learning programs will continue to be available throughout the summer even though Google Classroom will end on May 22, 2020. Please encourage your child to continue to log in using the Clever badge to access the apps. As a reminder, Lexia supports students with language development including reading, spelling and grammar. Dreambox is a math app that adjusts the levels of lessons for your child while he/she plays math games. Students collect coins that they can cash in for fun prizes like new avatars and playing games. Khan Academy is another fantastic resource that your child can continue to use throughout the summer. Once signed in, your child can add or adjust his/her courses by clicking the courses tab. Your child can sign up for math at his/her grade level, add grammar lessons and language arts lessons. All of the Khan Academy lessons offer video tutorials. Check it out!
If your child has borrowed a Chromebook for distant learning, he/she may continue to keep and use the Chromebook for the duration of the summer. We will plan to collect the Chromebooks at the start of the 2020-2021 school year. Although our teachers won’t be available after May 26th, the office staff will be available to return phone messages (719 486 6830) through June 19. Please reach out if your child is having difficulty logging into the Clever account. There will be an IT person on call this summer so if you have any problems with your Chromebook, you can email helpdesk@lakecountyschools.net for support.
Lake County SBHC re-opened on Tuesday, May 5th! The SBHC will be open 1 day/week (Tuesdays) from 8am-5pm for well visits (Well Child Checks, immunizations, sports physicals, reproductive health, injuries). Telehealth/virtual appointments will be offered for sick visits, including potential COVID-19.
Behavioral health appointments are available via telehealth or in person at our main Summit Community Care Clinic in Frisco. SCCC will honor your student s SBHC enrollment and pricing at the main clinic through August 31, 2020. For questions or to schedule an appointment, please call the Summit Community Care Clinic (your SBHC sponsor) at 970-668-4040, or 719-486-6981 on Tuesdays when the SBHC is open. Please reach out to the Care Clinic if you need support during this difficult time. We are here for you!
