LCIS SNSO 10/25/20
Hello LCIS Families,
We’ve just completed week two of our unique half day hybrid model. Students have been sharing that they really like seeing their teachers every day and that they have been enjoying the Project Dream programming. We’re so thankful for this partnership and are looking forward to carrying this model through the end of December.
Conferences will be held this week on Wednesday and Thursday between the hours of 12-8pm. Students have been working on creating their portfolios and are excited to share a sampling of some of the work they have accomplished this fall. If you still need to sign up for your child’s conference, please use the links to do so!

Due to the conference schedule, both Wednesday and Thursday will be half days where we will run a modified schedule. Arrival will still begin at 7:45, but dismissal will begin at 11:15. Cohort A students will receive their core academics on Wednesday and their Project Dream programming on Thursday. Cohort B students will receive their Project Dream programming on Thursday and their core academics on Thursday.
LCIS has received some recent communication from the Colorado Department of Education regarding our status as of 2019. Based on state assessment scores from the spring of 2019, LCIS has a current rating of Priority Improvement and we will soon be creating our Unified Improvement Plan. This plan will require input from our stakeholders and we will be reaching out requesting your assistance with this soon.
Lake County Intermediate School students spent this fall learning about artist Andy Goldsworthy’s land art. All students, including students learning virtually at home, created their own artwork inspired by what they learned. Please take some time to look at the photos of student’s artwork in the linked slideshows below!
This is a link to the district website where the LCIS Virtural Art has also been posted. Thank you for all of your hard work Ms. Good and students!
LCIS will be offering Virtual Band class to 5th and 6th graders! This class will take place after school from 4:00-5:00 on Wednesdays. Since we cannot mix cohorts or blow into instruments at school, band can only be offered virtually at this time. Students who signed up for band last spring have already been added to the google classroom. Make sure to join this class if you have received this invitation via email. If you did not choose to join band last spring you still can! Email Mrs. Cairns with any questions, conflicts or concerns at ccarns@lakecountyschools.net
Ms. Sarah, the LCIS School Social Worker, has an entire social emotional library for kids that covers everything from anger management, to coping skills such as breathing and mindfulness, to grief, to anxiety, and our favorite overarching topic at LCIS Growth Mindset! The book “The Magical Yet” by Angela DeTerlizzi is a beautifully illustrated and fun book to help kids foster a growth mindset and to help them believe that they may bot be able to do something YET. We want all kids at LCIS to understand that sometimes things are hard and they may be struggling now, but that isn’t always the way things will be. With the right supports and belief we can all learn something new and change our current circumstances. Here is a link if you would like to listen to this book.
