LCIS FASO 1/28/22
Hello LCIS Families!
Our school Spelling Bee will take place this Wednesday, February 3, 2022. The Bee will take place in the LCIS Gym and begin at 8:10. Families are invited to join the audience and support the students who will partake in the competition. Check out the Scripps National Spelling Bee website to learn more about spelling bees and find resources to support your child as they learn to spell new words.
Valentine’s Day is coming up in a couple of weeks! This year, it falls on a Monday. Our Valentine’s Day celebration will take the form of a lesson during Crew about gratitude and friendship at the start of the day. If you would like to send Valentine cards, please have your child write their own name in the “from” part, and leave the “to” name blank. Cards need to be pre-written, as we will be sharing these during Crew. For confidentiality reasons, we are not able to send out a class list. We realize there are cards that have candy or other things like stickers attached. Valentines will be collected and sent home. We will encourage the consumption of any candy at home. There is no expectation that students bring Valentine cards – it is an option for your family. We will have a nice time appreciating one another’s friendship regardless.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher. Thank you for your partnership!

6th grade hosted the Community Meeting on Thursday. They had an amazing presentation about desert animal adaptations. They designed and painted a beautiful mural, and explained to us the adaptations of birds and of bighorn sheep among other living things. Their level of understanding and expertise was so impressive!
📚 ACADEMIC UPDATE
5th grade has started a new module in ELA all about Jackie Robinson and how he led social change in the 1960s. In Social Studies, we are building background knowledge and reading articles about the Civil Rights movement. In Math, students are continuing to learn how to multiply a fraction by a whole number and solve word problems. Please remember that homework goes home on Thursday and is due the following Thursday. This helps students practice their math facts and answer questions to a reading passage.
Please see below for our February lunch and breakfast menus. We are committed to being more environmentally conscious by posting the menus on the Friday Afternoon Shout Out and sending home paper copies by parent/family request. Please let the LCIS main office know if you need a print-out of the menus by calling 719-486-6830. Thank you!
Note: all menus are subject to change.
