LCIS FASO 2/11/22
Hello LCIS Families!
💕Valentine’s Day is Monday! Our celebration will take the form of a lesson during Crew about gratitude and friendship at the start of the day. If you would like to send Valentine cards, please have your child write their own name in the “from” part, and leave the “to” name blank. Cards need to be pre-written, as we will be sharing these during Crew. For confidentiality reasons, we are not able to send out a class list. We realize there are cards that have candy or other things like stickers attached. Valentines will be collected and sent home. We will encourage the consumption of any candy at home. There is no expectation that students bring Valentine cards – it is an option for your family. We will have a nice time appreciating one another’s friendship regardless. 💗
Similar to our gratitude month in November, our students are writing and illustrating ways that they can show compassion to others and then posting their messages on this bulletin board. It is so encouraging to everyone at LCIS to be able to read these kind thoughts and celebrate the care and concern that students show each other.
Our lost and found is just about filled to the brim with a variety of items including coats, sweatshirts, boots, hats, and gloves. If your child is missing an item, please encourage them to check the lost and found at school.
Conferences are quickly approaching! Mark your calendar for March 2nd, Wednesday, and March 3rd, Thursday as these days are half days of school for students in the morning followed by afternoons and evenings of conferences. Dismissal begins at 11:15 both days for students and conferences run from 12-8pm. Sign up for your child’s conference here: English or Spanish
If you would like help reserving your conference time, help is available! Please see the message below from the Mobile Learning Center Staff for assistance with conference scheduling.
📚 ACADEMIC UPDATE
In Math, 5th Graders have been practicing multiplication of fractions and moving to multiplying decimals as fractions. Please continue to practice your math facts at home. In ELA, we have been talking about the factors that led to Jackie Robinson’s success in breaking the color barrier in the MLB, such as his family, fans and other leaders. When reading with your child each night, you can ask them what the main idea of what they read was and have them show you a quote from the story that supports that. As a reminder, homework is sent home EVERY Thursday and is due the following Thursday.
Please see below for our February lunch and breakfast menus. We are committed to being more environmentally conscious by posting the menus on the Friday Afternoon Shout Out and sending home paper copies by parent/family request. Please let the LCIS main office know if you need a print-out of the menus by calling 719-486-6830. Thank you!
Note: all menus are subject to change.
