LCIS FASO 4-15-22
Hello LCIS Families!
Our state student assessments, CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success), will continue this week! Students took the English Language Arts CMAS tests last week and this week they will take the Math assessments. Please help your child prepare by having them charge their chromebook at night so that they are ready for the online assessment. Please have your child at school every day this week and ready for their assessments. If your child has to miss a day of school during testing, we will work with your child so that they can make up their test.
The testing dates are in the table below.
DATES | CMAS ASSESSMENT |
April 18-21 | Math grades 3-6 |
April 25-29 | Science grade 5 |
LCSD has been conducting a Literacy Audit over the past year and our Literacy Team would like to share some information with the students and families. They will be showcasing the Core Knowledge Language Arts program in the LCIS Library on Thursday, April 19th at 6:30 p.m. Please click this link for more details.
The LCIS staff and students and our GOL! Partners enjoyed our annual Spring Fiesta (formerly known as Snowpalooza)! It was a fun way for students to get outside and try out some snow sports equipment. GOL shared their gear, so students were able to snowshoe, Nordic ski, and enjoy some hot cocoa. Not your typical Easter weekend activity, but still lots of fun!
ACADEMIC UPDATE
Students in 3rd grade are working on line plots. We have been learning about collecting and interpreting data.
5th grade is starting their natural disasters unit in ELA. Students chose between tornadoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, volcanoes and earthquakes. They are very excited to learn more about their natural disasters. In Math, we are learning about shapes! We are also starting our new science weather unit.
With spring fast approaching, the GOL! team is working hard to bring you another awesome summer of Rockies Rock Adventure Camp. See below for more information
Important dates:
April 18th – Open enrollment begins (there will be a two-week open enrollment period)
May 2nd – We will start confirming admission and filling spots
Important update:
After much discussion and consideration, we will be shortening camp by two weeks to better align with the LCSD summer break. This new schedule will make it more possible for LCSD staff to work at camp, thus helping us address a camp staff shortage. The resulting four week schedule will allow us to put our best efforts into creating magical experiences for your kiddos, while also providing LCSD staff with some much-deserved time off.
Rockies Rock 2022 Schedule:
Session 1: July 5th – 14th (due to the July 4th holiday, the first week of camp will run T – Fr)
Session 2: July 18th – 28th
We appreciate your understanding and support, and hope this announcement gives you ample time to plan your summers accordingly!
Please see below for our lunch and breakfast menus. We are committed to being more environmentally conscious by posting the menus on the Friday Afternoon Shout Out and sending home paper copies by parent/family request. Please let the LCIS main office know if you need a print-out of the menus by calling 719-486-6830. Thank you!
Note: all menus are subject to change.
There are many exciting events happening in our community every month – too many for us to list on this communication! Please click this link to access the Community Calendar for upcoming events.
