LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 8-29-25
Hello LCIS Families,
We had another busy week of learning and team building here at LCIS. I hope you all have a lovely long weekend as you celebrate Labor Day on Monday. Remember, we do not have school on this Monday, so we will see our Panthers back at LCIS on Tuesday, 9/2/25. Tuesday is also the first day of Project Dream programming. For more information about Project Dream, scroll down.
Academic Update
LCIS students are working hard as mathematicians!
- 6th graders are focusing on data and statistics. They are also working on sharpening the long division skills using the standard algorithm.
- 5th graders are learning about the concept of volume. They are also reviewing multiplication strategies using different models.
- 4th graders are increasing their fluency with multiplication and division facts and using this to solve multi-digit problems. They are also learning about prime and composite numbers.
- 3rd graders are developing strategies for understanding their multiplication facts and using rectangular arrays to connect to multiplication and find the area.
Remember that students can strengthen these skills on IXL
Assessment Update
Last week, students took the DIBELS benchmark reading test. This assessment gives teachers additional targeted data to better support your child’s reading growth.
Next week, students will finish taking the DIBELS benchmark reading test.
Continue to encourage your child to be a reader!
Celebrations
Team Building with GOL!

Attendance Update
We had good attendance this week with an average of 95% of our students at school and almost all of them showing up on time! We know that good attendance translates to good academic outcomes. Keep on showing up to have access to the learning. Your child being here makes a difference!
Every School Day Matters – LCIS Attendance Campaign 2025
Consistent attendance is key to success. Missing school—even a little—can keep students from reaching their potential. This year, LCIS is making attendance fun with exciting rewards:
Biweekly Pizza Raffles – Perfect attendance for two weeks = entry to win a family pizza!
Monthly Class Rewards – Top class earns special free play time.
Snow Tubing Trip – No absences Aug. 11–Dec. 19 = tubing at Dutch Henry Jan. 15.
Colorado Rockies Game – Half a day or less missed all year = trip to a Rockies game May 21.
It’s simple—come to school every day, give your best, and join the fun!
Communications
Have you signed up for the PowerSchool app yet? This year we have transitioned all communication, grades, and payments to our online student information system, PowerSchool. If you need assistance using the PowerSchool app, please call our front office at 719-486-6830 or email Julie Guzman at jguzman@lakecountyschools.net or Tracy Vincent at tvincent@lakecountyschools.net We are here to help and support you with this process.
Do you need to change your child’s end of day plans? No problem! Simply call 719-293-6830, text 719-293-0964 or email our front office staff (see above) by 2pm.
IXL Homework Update
Students are actively working on practicing their recommended IXL skills in ELA and Math. As a school we have answered 56,939 questions! Remember our homework goal is for students to work for one hour on ELA skills each week and one hour on Math skills each week. Remind your student to work on their recommended skills as this will help them make growth across both areas.
Go Panthers!

We want to hear from you. Please take a few minutes to share your perspective through our Strategic Plan Survey and help spread the word to other families and community members.
