Welcome back to an exciting start of our school year!
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students, I am so excited to start the upcoming school year here at West Park Elementary! Your children are the most important resource in our community, and I am dedicated to making every day fun, rewarding, and educational for them. As the new principal of WPE, I want to invite you to contact me if you ever have any concerns or celebrations! I have been with the school district for 20 years, and am thrilled to be a part of the important work here. If you’d like to meet with me, please contact Lynette Fresquez at 719-486-6890, so that we can get together. This year we are going deeper into Expeditionary Learning by adding their literacy curriculum to already complement the work we do in math, science and social studies. Our staff is excited to create a strong community of curious learners and thoughtful crew members. Sincerely, Kathleen Fitzsimmons Principal –West Park Elementary School More Important NewsFront Door SafetyIn order to help keep our learning environment safe during the day, we have added a camera/lock system to our front doors. As you enter the building, you will now see a doorbell/camera system on the left wall. Please press the doorbell so that Lynette can see you and let you in through the door with the “ENTER HERE” sign. The door will be unlocked only during student arrival (7:40am – 8:15am) and student dismissal (3:10-3:40). Thank you for your patience and support with this important safety upgrade to our building! Student Drop-off and Pick-up Thank you for using the lane off of 12th street, close to the school for drop off/pick up when you remain in your car (a moving lane). If you need to park your car to walk into the building, please do so on the 12th street side of the parking divider. It is important that the drop off lane keep moving for your safety and sanity! ANY transportation changes from your regular plan need to be communicated to the office by 2:30 each day so that we can safely get your student to their destination.
