Track & Field School Records Fall Today!
The Panther track & field team kicked off their state meet competition tonight with 2 school records!
Clara Kirr, Rose Horning, Keira King and Indigo Olsen (pictured from left to right) raced in the 2A girls’ 4×800 meter relay. Today was the first time the quartet ran together, and they made it memorable! They smashed the old school record by 13 seconds, finishing 5th as a team in 10 minutes 12.06 seconds. The previous record of 10:25.84 was set by Emily Stege, Kristen Wells, Katie Stege and Mackenzie Gurrola at the state meet in 2007.
Less than 2 hours later, Clara Kirr ran the 400 meter dash. Kirr broke the school record earlier this year, but tonight she set a new personal best and school record of 1:01.97.
Keira King and Indigo Olsen will run the 3200 meter run first thing Friday morning. Then Lake County will be represented by 6 athletes in the 2A boys’ pole vault and 5 ladies in the 2A girls’ pole vault.
LET’S GO PANTHERS!!
