LCES Panther Cub Communication #1
Week of August 6-August 12
Welcome back Panther Cub Families!
We are excited to kick off the 23/24 school year. This year, our family communication will be combined for PK-2nd grade. We are hoping this helps families who have students in multiple grades only have to read one communication. Also, we are working hard to build our united PK-2 program as part of our school wide goals.
Orientation conferences are this coming Monday, August 7 from 10-6. If you have not scheduled a conference yet, please do so at this link or contact the front office. All families, PK-2 will come through the main building doors and check in at the Welcome table in the cafeteria. Here you will pick up your students “Thursday Folder” filled with the information you will be learning about throughout conferences and need to know to help set up your student for a successful year. There will also be several booths set up for you to sign up for various school programs and to get information from community partners. Also, be sure to have your students’ picture taken with LifeTouch. They will be set up in the library. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at any time.
The first day of school is Tuesday, August 8th. K-2 breakfast will be served in the cafeteria this year starting at 7:30. School starts at 8:00. Students who arrive after 8:00 will be considered tardy. PK students will follow their drop off schedule.
Thank you all for helping to make the start of this school year a great success. We are looking forward to having all our panther cubs back in the building and welcoming our new panther cubs and their families.
If you have any questions, please reach out to any of us at any time:

Again, we are so looking forward to the new school year. In next week’s communication, we will share with you our school wide goals for the year and ways that you as families and community members can help us reach those goals. We will also be hosting Principal Coffee Chat times each month to bring families in to learn about what is happening at school and to share all your great ideas. Please look for those dates in the coming weeks.
Have a great first week!
Katie Pongrekun, Principal LCES
Staff of the Week Highlight!
Each week this year in family communication, we will be highlighting a staff member in the building. If you want, please feel free to send emails, handwritten notes, or letters of encouragement to that staff member.
Tips of the Week
This year in communication, we will have a tip of the week that families can use to help support their kiddos with literacy and math at home.
This week’s tip: In order to help prepare your PK-2 student for school, start building your at home schedule. Getting kids to bed early, setting an alarm to practice getting up and going through the morning school routine. Also, talk with your kiddos about what they are excited about regarding school and share your own school success stories with them.

Preschool Specifics
We can’t wait to get back into our school routine and create memories with your child. Please remember to send your child with extra clothes and a water bottle. If your child will be staying past 12:45, they can bring a blanket from home to nap with. Please label these with first and last name.
