News from LCHS
We went over the online phase potential during conferences but wanted to remind everyone what that looks like should we need to go to online phase at some point. Here is a link to a summary of the online plan in both English and Spanish. Note, should we go to online phase, students attend actual sessions with each teacher at scheduled times. Also note, crew takes place every Monday from 1:30-2:00 pm and can be accessed through the Google meet link in the crew Google Classroom. Also, in an online phase, students should have a 1-1 check in with their crew teacher each week to make sure they are staying on track.
Remember to do your health screen at home before coming to school and continue to follow the safety practices at school. Students not following our safety guidelines will serve lunch detentions. For LCHS in-person students, be sure to log on to your Crew at 8:05 am on your at-home learning days. Logging on to Crew establishes your attendance for the day.
Be sure to read the attached “How Sick is Too Sick” guidelines from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment for guidance about when to keep your children home from school. Spanish version from Colorado Children’s Hospital is also attached.
UPDATE: Meals during Yellow Phase Reopening
All meals are now free for all students regardless of free/reduced lunch status. Please be sure to take advantage of the meals LCSD is able to provide!
Please follow this link for details on distribution depending on your student’s learning choice. If you need any accommodations please do not hesitate to reach out to Julie Mehle jmehle@lakecountyschools.net

Even though meals will be free for all students for at least the next few weeks, we encourage all families, including our virtual students, to apply for Free and Reduced School Meals during the first 30 days of school. It is necessary to complete a new application each school year. If your student was eligible for free or reduced meals during the 2019-2020 school year, that eligibility only carries through the first 30 days of school. Children need healthy meals to learn and thrive at school! Lake County School District offers healthy meals every school day and eligible families can receive these meals at no cost. When families apply for school meal benefits they are also helping Lake County School District receive additional funding that goes right back into the classroom!
Applications can be turned in at any school front office Monday-Thursday 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, or mailed to Leslee Torsell, Lake County High School, 1004 W. 4th St., Leadville, CO 80461. If you need an application use this link to download the application as a PDF – https://www.lakecountyschools.net/for-families/nutrition/nutrition-application/ or contact Leslee Torsell, ltorsell@lakecountyschools.net, 719-486-6954.
