News From LCHS 2/11/2022
Dear LCHS Parents & Caregivers,
We have some significant events coming up at LCHS. These are opportunities for you to engage and invest in your child’s education and school community. We hope you’ll join us when and where you can! First, as a reminder, several principal candidates are joining us tomorrow for in person interviews. Here is how you can be involved:
Community Meet & Greet (8:15-9:00 AM and 12:00-12:45 PM)
Meet and greets will take place in the cafeteria. The first meet and greet will take place at 8:15AM with a provided breakfast. The second meet and greet will take place at 12:00PM with a provided lunch. The meet and greet will be an informal setting in which you may chat with candidates. There will be a comment box available for you to leave your feedback.
Interview Panels (9:15-11:15 AM)
Interview panels will be organized by stakeholder groups and represent parents, students, community, and staff. This portion of the day will include a more formal interview process in which candidates will answer questions following a more traditional interview style event. Candidates will rotate through stakeholder group rooms in 30 minute sessions. If you wish to participate in the interview panel, we ask that you arrive to the high school cafeteria by 8:45AM to receive directions and information about the panel process so that we may direct you to the appropriate location. You will have the opportunity to provide feedback.
Also, parent teacher conferences are quickly approaching. They are during the first week of March on Wednesday, March 2 and Thursday, March 3 from 12pm to 8pm. Students will have a half day of school in the morning, and then they are expected to attend their conference meeting with you and their crew leader. It’s an important time for us to talk through your child’s 2nd semester grades and their academic growth from fall to winter. We are using the same electronic system that we’ve used in the past to sign up. Below are the links. Sign up as soon as possible!

Driver’s Education Courses: Is your child ready to get their diver’s permit? You can enroll them in online Driver’s Education courses this spring. See the attached flyer for details on how to enroll.
Homebuyer Readiness Workshop: Chaffee Housing Trust (CHT) is offering two FREE interactive Homebuyer Readiness webinars for Chaffee and Lake County residents. The webinars are offered in English and Spanish with separate dates scheduled for each language. Participants can attend one or both depending on their interests!
It is an essential step in the affordable housing efforts to prepare to become a homeowner. We anticipate some housing units will be built within the next year to a year and a half that is attainable to our community. However, it often takes 6-18 months to get “home-buyer ready.” Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Mobile Learning Center: Attached is the schedule for the Mobile Learning Center. They offer tutoring and additional supports for school. Please check the schedule to know the days and times it will be in your area!
Substitutes Needed (see attached flyer): Want to invest in our school community and give back? One of our biggest needs is subbing. We are in need of substitutes district wide, but especially at the high school level. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Project Dream Announcement: Over the course of the semester, Project Dream will be conducting fire and lockdown drills during after school programs. Reference the schedule below to know the days drills will be taking place. All drills will run at 4:30pm. On these days, please wait until at least 5:00pm to pick up your students from after school programs so that they may fully participate in the drills.
- February 10th: Fire Drill at LCES
- February 17th: Lockdown Drill District-Wide
- February 22nd: Fire Drill at LCHS
- February 23rd: Fire Drill at LCIS
6th-8th Grade Games at LCIS:
We have decided to make some changes with attendance at our 6-8 games at LCIS. Given the age of our students we are going to require that all students attending the game are with an adult. If students arrive without an adult they will not be allowed to attend the games at LCIS. We are making this change to ensure more supervision and that everyone is being safe and respectful at all times.
February Breakfast and Lunch Menus
Family Learning Institute
We will be offering a family learning institute each month and all students and families are invited to attend! The sessions will be held at LCES.

We pulled grades on all grades for students 9-12. Any student who failed classes 1st Semester of 2021-2022 school year will be ineligible until the official eligibility dates. At which time students must not be failing any classes. They can still participate in winter sports and go to practice, but they cannot compete.
