News From LCHS 2/18/22
Dear LCHS Parents & Caregivers,
We had a great week of teaching and learning. The transition from required masks to recommended went really smoothly. I was proud of our students for honoring individual’s choice in the matter. Many students continued wearing masks, while others did not. It was also great being able to exchange smiles with students throughout the day!
We are less than 2 weeks away from conferences. Conferences are on Wednesday, March 2nd and Thursday, March 3rd from 12pm to 8pm. Please use the links below to sign up for a conference time with your child’s crew leader.

On both conference days, students will have a half day of school from 8am to 11:30am. Linked here is a copy of their schedule in the morning.
As a reminder, this upcoming week, we DO NOT have school on Monday, February 21st in honor of President’s Day. We DO have school on Friday, February 25th.
Enjoy the long weekend.
Best,
Erin Dillon

Driver’s Education Courses: Is your child ready to get their diver’s permit? You can enroll them in online Driver’s Education courses this spring. See the attached flyer for details on how to enroll.
Homebuyer Readiness Workshop: Chaffee Housing Trust (CHT) is offering two FREE interactive Homebuyer Readiness webinars for Chaffee and Lake County residents. The webinars are offered in English and Spanish with separate dates scheduled for each language. Participants can attend one or both depending on their interests! It is an essential step in the affordable housing efforts to prepare to become a homeowner. We anticipate some housing units will be built within the next year to a year and a half that is attainable to our community. However, it often takes 6-18 months to get “home-buyer ready.” Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Mobile Learning Center: Attached is the schedule for the Mobile Learning Center. They offer tutoring and additional supports for school. Please check the schedule to know the days and times it will be in your area!
Substitutes Needed (see attached flyer): Want to invest in our school community and give back? One of our biggest needs is subbing. We are in need of substitutes district wide, but especially at the high school level. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Project Dream Announcement: Over the course of the semester, Project Dream will be conducting fire and lockdown drills during after school programs. Reference the schedule below to know the days drills will be taking place. All drills will run at 4:30pm. On these days, please wait until at least 5:00pm to pick up your students from after school programs so that they may fully participate in the drills.

- February 23rd: Fire Drill at LCIS
6th-8th Grade Games at LCIS:
We have decided to make some changes with attendance at our 6-8 games at LCIS. Given the age of our students we are going to require that all students attending the game are with an adult. If students arrive without an adult they will not be allowed to attend the games at LCIS. We are making this change to ensure more supervision and that everyone is being safe and respectful at all times.
