LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 10-25-24
Hello LCIS Panthers,
Our monthly Community Meeting will be held on Wednesday this week at 8:05 in the Gym and led by 5th grade. They will be sharing information that they’ve learned about the Inca, Mayan, and Aztec civilizations in their ELA unit. Please join us for this fun event!
Halloween is coming! On Thursday this week, LCIS will begin the day with a whole school costume parade in the LCIS Gym beginning at 8:10. Families are invited to attend. Students are welcome to wear their costume for the entire school day but they must be school appropriate and therefore no fake weapons, face masks and face paints are allowed. All students wearing a costume will be entered into a contest and small prizes will be awarded by grade level to the best individual and group costume.
Healthy Halloween Celebrations will take place during Specials classes, so as not to disrupt the core academics. The celebrations will include fun activities such as music, dancing, games and crafts. Our Healthy Halloween Celebrations, like all of our celebrations for holidays or birthdays, are food-free. Please do not send any food with your child with the expectation that it will be shared with others. If your child does bring food to school, it will be returned home with them at the end of the day. If you would like to send a little Halloween prize to be shared you may, but this is not expected. Little prizes may include pencils, erasers, stickers, etc.. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
LCIS is selling Halloween Smencils- smelly pencils!- for $2 each, every morning next week. The money raised is used for student prizes and celebration items.
The LCIS Panthers continue to climb the IXL Skill Mountain. Thank you for encouraging your child to work on their reading and math skills for homework. We are starting to see that this practice is supporting academic gains for our students.
Congratulations to this week’s Skill Masters group!
Sadly attendance was lower in all grade levels this week. 4th grade missed lots of students this past week. It really impacts the learning environment when class peers are missing from discussions and activities. Please do your best to get your child to school every day. | 3rd 93.63% 4th 91.94% 5th 94.32% 6th 94.29% |
The Lake County School District has an excess of artificial turf rolls obtained during the re-turf of the Community Field. They are currently stored in the upper parking lot of the Lake County Intermediate School on 6th street. They are free to anyone who would like to take them. Each roll weighs about 1,200 pounds, and are on a first come, first serve basis.
Auditions for The Spring Musical and the Winter One Act Festival are open for submissions! See the QR code or use the link here to access the form where you will submit a video audition.
The selection of the musical will not be announced until after auditions and will be based on participation.
Remember, there are LIMITED 3rd-5th grade slots. The Spring Musical is a LCHS production that sometimes has the need for younger students. Participating in the audition process is a great experience and prepares students for future auditions. Backstage Crew interviews will not be until the spring for both productions.
The Winter One Act Festival is only open for 7th-12th grade students. These productions will also be announced after auditions.
Nov. 5 All Video submissions must be sent-no late submissions will be accepted

The Tree of Sharing will be available to our community again this year! We have teamed up with local businesses to try and bring it back to the community this year, rather than just a Walmart gift card. We will be working with Blueflower Candies, as well as Rockytop Toys and Gifts (both businesses are also offering a % off total purchase with gift card), and Big R, as options for gift cards, as well as Walmart. Please use the QR code on the flier below to register for this wonderful program. The deadline to register for the Tree of Sharing is November 1st.
