News From LCHS 1/13/23
Good morning LCHS,
We have come to the end of another successful week. Students are working hard in classes, and teachers are preparing engaging and rigorous lessons to challenge their minds. We are laser focused on the success of our students, and we are teaching them the traits and habits of successful people. I hope everyone enjoys this wonderful holiday weekend, and comes back recharged and ready to take on the rest of the semester.

ACCESS Testing
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Each year, students in English learner programs take the ACCESS for ELLs language proficiency test. The test measures academic English language proficiency for students learning English in our school and throughout our state.
This testing window is Jan. 9, 2023 through Feb. 10, 2023 and schools will begin testing for our English Language Learners next week.
Please contact me if you have questions.

Please provide your feedback on the ideas that have been generated. We will use the feedback from this survey to move forward into planning our future calendars. Athletics:
Lake County High School, in partnership with Project Dream, will be offering Esports this spring! Esports is a growing CHSAA co-ed activity that takes video gaming to another level with organized competitive gameplay between 2 schools. It demands critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and creativity in order for students to succeed. Practice/competition will be after school from 4-6 pm. The season will run from the end of January until early April. No travel involved. Please encourage your students to sign up in the library or email me at apeters@lakecountyschools.net.
Upcoming home athletic events:
MS girls’ basketball- Wednesday, January 81, at 4:00 pm @ LCIS
(If your 6-8th grade student wants to attend basketball games as a spectator, you must attend with them or call to put them on the Event Attendee List- see details below)
If your student (6th-8th grade) wants to attend a basketball event, you must either attend the event with them, or you must call Alison Sprague at 719-486-6954 to get them on the Event Attendee List. Students whose names are not on the Event Attendee List will be turned away at the door and will need to find a way home. RSVP’s must be called in to Alison before 2:30 pm the day of the event, or by 2:30 pm on Thursday if the event is on Friday or Saturday. We do ask that you call to add your student EACH TIME you want them to attend a sporting event at LCIS.
Any 3-5th grade students who wish to attend basketball games must be accompanied by an adult.
HIGH SCHOOL ELIGIBILITY IS CHANGING!! In order to better align with the CHSAA policies for eligibility, we will be changing the way that we handle eligibility, beginning with the new semester. We will run eligibility EVERY Thursday, and if you are on the ineligible list, you will have to sit out of competition for the ENTIRE next week (Monday-Thursday). There will be no more appeals for high school students. Student-athletes who miss more than 2 days for sickness, travel, etc, may reach out to Amy Peters for a hardship exception. Middle school eligibility will continue to work as it has been. Please reach out if you have any questions about the change.
