News from LCHS 1/6/23
Good morning LCHS family,
I hope you all had a restful and joyful break with the people you love. We are starting a fresh semester and starting off our charge toward the end of the year on the right foot. Next week we will begin ACCESS testing. If your student takes this test, please make sure that they are well rested and prepared to do their best. The culture and climate of the campus continues to improve with every new day, and our students are becoming more focused on their futures. I am proud to be working with the amazing students, staff and teachers at LCHS!

ACCESS Testing
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Each year, students in English learner programs take the ACCESS for ELLs language proficiency test. The test measures academic English language proficiency for students learning English in our school and throughout our state.
This testing window is Jan. 9, 2023 through Feb. 10, 2023 and schools will begin testing for our English Language Learners next week.
Please contact me if you have questions.

Calendar Feedback Survey #3
Our last calendar survey asked for ideas from our stakeholders on ways we can improve the current school calendar. We have compiled ideas that were generated. Please provide your feedback on the ideas that have been generated. We will use the feedback from this survey to move forward into planning our future calendars. This survey will be open until January 13th at 5PM.

Athletics:
Lake County High School, in partnership with Project Dream, will be offering a trial season of Esports this spring! Esports is a growing CHSAA co-ed activity that takes video gaming to another level with organized competitive gameplay between 2 high schools. It demands critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and creativity in order for students to succeed. Practice/competition will be after school from 4-6 pm, probably on Mondays and Wednesdays. No travel involved. Interested students should sign up in the library with Project Dream.
HIGH SCHOOL ELIGIBILITY IS CHANGING!! In order to better align with the CHSAA policies for eligibility, we will be changing the way that we handle eligibility, beginning with the new semester. We will run eligibility EVERY Thursday, and if you are on the ineligible list, you will have to sit out of competition for the ENTIRE next week (Monday-Thursday). There will be no more appeals for high school students. Student-athletes who miss more than 2 days for sickness, travel, etc, may reach out to Amy Peters for a hardship exception. Middle school eligibility will continue to work as it has been. Please reach out if you have any questions about the change.

We do ask that you call to add your student EACH TIME you want them to attend a sporting event at LCIS.
