News From LCHS 1/24/25
Dear LCHS Families,
We have had another great week here at LCHS! We appreciate our staff and students adjusting to the two hour delay. We walked the building on Tuesday, and saw some incredible instruction happening in our 7th and 8th grade classes. As we continue into the semester, we are excited to see our students engaging with their teachers and colleagues in meaningful ways.
The Junior High Student Senate is putting together a Winter Formal dance! The dance will be held on Saturday, January 25th from 5PM-8PM in the cafeteria. The cost is $5. To get into the dance, students must be in 7th or 8th grade and attend LCHS or participate in LCHS activities. If you have any questions, please contact Arizona Hager at ahager@lakecountyschools.net
Winter Formal for 9-12 grade students will be hosted at LCHS in the cafeteria on February 1st, from 7-10pm. Entry is $5 per person. Entry to the dance will close at 8:30pm. No re-entry is allowed. If students want to bring a guest that is not enrolled at LCHS, they must fill out a guest pass form and submit it to the front office by Thursday January 30 at noon to get approved. If you have questions, please contact Devin Riggs at driggs@lakecountyschools.net
On Thursday, February 13th, all 10th graders will walk to Cloud City High School for a Career Day from 9AM-11AM. They will miss part of Block 4 and all of Block 5. This is a great opportunity for them to explore careers within their desired career path and talk to members of our community who can answer specific questions and may be interested in hiring them in the future for jobs or internships. If you have any questions, please reach out to Alisha Forsyth at aforsyth@lakecountyschools.net
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend,

Project Dream
Alternative to Suspension for Vaping Violations
Project Dream and LCHS are partnering to offer an alternative to suspension for students in violation of LCHS’s policies regarding the possession or use of vape products. Students facing an in-school suspension regarding vape possession/use now have the option to meet with Project Dream staff on a Friday and complete a program called Healthy Futures together. Through Healthy Futures, students learn about the facts and harms of vaping and will receive resources on how to quit vape/e-cigarette use.
While this initiative is meant to expand supportive options for students in violation of school policy, Project Dream welcomes other students considering quitting to attend these sessions. Please talk with Lana Butler, LCHS Project Dream Site Supervisor for more information (lbutler@lakecountyschools.net).
For reference, the LCHS Student and Parent Handbook contains the drugs/alcohol/tobacco/vaping policy. This program is funded through a portion of a nationwide settlement that the Colorado Attorney General received from Juul Labs, Inc. on behalf of the State of Colorado.
