LCSD Superintendent Update: May
Dear LCSD Families, Staff and Partners:
Happy May! I want to remind everyone that our annual Family Survey is now open! This survey is critically important for us to understand what is working well, and what can be improved, in our schools. The survey will be open until May 22 and should take less than 10 minutes. You can take the survey multiple times if you have students in different schools. Take it now!
Panther Spotlight
This month’s Panther Spotlight celebrates the work of the LCSD Strategic Planning Committee. This group of volunteers spend countless hours advising the district and the Board of Education on the creation of our new five-year Strategic Plan (English | Spanish). At every turn, these critical friends were engaged, supportive and honest about making sure the plan reflects what the community has told us is important. Many, many thanks to all of these individuals for their service!

May Updates
Improving Student Outcomes: We are on the home stretch now! We are entering our FINAL academic assessments of the year and gearing up for tons of fun celebrations to mark all the learning students have accomplished this year. Please keep an eye on the district events calendar so that you don’t miss anything!
Strategic Plan: The Board of Education has officially approved our 2026-2031 Strategic Plan! Please take a moment to visit the information on the website (English | Spanish) and check out the plan itself (English | Spanish). We are very excited to share this work with families and the community as we enter next school year.
School Merge: This summer, we will consolidate our school campuses from four to three. Renovations are now complete at LCES and teachers and staff are busy planning for next year and our new grade configuration. This presentation provides an overview of what is happening, and why the district is making these changes. You can also read our Q&A about school consolidation and submit any questions in English or Spanish.
See you soon,
Kate
