LCIS FASO 5-21-21
Hello LCIS Families,
The students at LCIS have completed the NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association) assessment in both math and English language arts over the last two weeks. We are so encouraged by the amount of growth our students have shown! This data demonstrates how hard our students, teachers and families have worked together over the last year to make sure that children at LCIS continue to progress in their educational careers. Be sure to praise your child for all of their effort and perseverance this year and to encourage them to continue reading and practicing their math skills.
The weather has finally started to turn to spring and our students and staff are taking advantage of the sunshine. Fifth graders are planning their annual trip to the Fish Hatchery on Wednesday, May 26th. They will learn about how the hatchery works, watch a fishing demonstration, and even get a fishing pole to take home. Third graders are studying the water cycle by going to Twin Lakes and the Fish Hatchery on June 1st. All of our students have been able to enjoy the outdoor classroom and use other outdoor spaces for team building activities. Field Day is scheduled for June 10th, so please watch for more details!
Third graders walked to the stream at the base of Dutch Henri hill to do some field work for their water module. They tested the water for impurities and talked about how water impacts the world around them. They also talked about how the water in this stream will eventually end up in the Gulf of Mexico. It was a beautiful afternoon to take advantage of some hands on learning!

We are already thinking about next year! If your child will be in 6th grade next year, they will need a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) immunization before the 2021-2022 school year. Please contact the school office at 719-486-6830 if you have questions.
Reading is Awesome!
LCSD and Full Circle have partnered to give students some additional reading opportunities this year. Parent Mentors work in small groups to help the students get extra support during the academic day.
Ana Andrade, Cristina Mercado, Ana Dominguez and Alma Macias have been reading with 15-18 students every week. We are so thankful for their time and dedication! Feel free to reach out to Lauren Barrette, the program coordinator, to learn more about the program! lauren@fulcircleleadville.org (719) 286-0599.
