LCIS FASO
Hello LCIS Families!
The fall weather has arrived! For all of us in Leadville this means cold mornings followed by cool days. Please be sure that your child dresses for the weather each day as most of our students have up to 40 minutes of outdoor recess time every day.
Our 3rd graders went to the Fish Hatchery on Wednesday. They were able to enjoy the cool fall weather and some group activities up at the Fish Hatchery with their teachers and some GOL! leaders. We are so thankful that GOL! was able to take all of the LCIS students outdoors this fall for some wonderful team building activities before the snow comes!
Congratulations to Katherine Page and Jung Kim for receiving the Freeport-McMoRan grants that they requested! Mr. Kim will use his grant money to fund a “Google Cardboard Project”. Fourth graders will be able to travel the world and space through an augmented reality program that uses old smart phones. Please consider donating your unused phone to these kiddos for this amazing project! Ms Page will be purchasing pollywogs and mealworms with her grant money so that the 3rd graders can observe the life cycles of these living organisms. LCIS teachers are resourceful, creative and dedicated to the growth of our students and we are excited to see what comes next!
Conferences are coming up in just a few weeks. On October 27th and October 28 school will run for a half day in the morning so that we can host conferences at the school from 12-8pm. Arrival will still take place starting at 7:45 and dismissal will begin at 11:15. Please see the attached letter for more information. Please use this link to schedule your child’s conference.
Join Project Dream on October 19th for our next Family Learning Institute – Family Math Night! We will have a presenter from each school talking about the math standards we cover, how we teach math, and how you can support your student at home. This event will be held in the cafeteria of LCES from 5:30-7:00pm. Dinner is included. Hope to see you there!
Our annual evacuation drill to the Lutheran Church will take place on October 14th. Students and staff members will be able to experience what would happen if it was necessary to leave our building due to safety concerns. Practicing these procedures will ensure that everyone is comfortable and calm in an emergency situation. Please talk with your child about the importance of safety at school. As always, please call the main office at 719-486-6830 if you have any questions or concerns.
