LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 4-18-25
Hello LCIS Panthers,
We have wrapped up the majority of our CMAS testing this week. Thank you for supporting your student with positive encouragement and helping them be ready each day for the tests. Results from CMAS are available in the fall and will be shared with families then. We will continue offering make-up CMAS assessments this week until all tests by all students have been completed.
Students who showed Perseverance during their CMAS tests earned a Perseverance Ticket. The students pictured above were able to choose a prize when their names were drawn from their grade level basket. We have been saving all of the tickets for a special drawing on April 30th During our Community Meeting. This second chance drawing will allow students to attend a Rockies Game in May. Good luck to everyone!
Now that we have completed CMAS, student Chromebooks will go back and forth from school to home and homework is back on! Please remind your student that they should complete one hour of Math and one hour of ELA skills on IXL every week for homework. We will be looking for our IXL masters next Thursday! Go Panthers!
On Wednesday, 4/23, LCIS will host a Mobile Earth & Space Observatory (MESO). 3rd and 5th graders will have the opportunity to engage in science programming focused on space and gravity. These grade levels have been studying astronomy in their STEM classes and this will be an awesome opportunity to learn even more about outer space!
Our annual LCSD Art Show is coming up on May 15th. We are looking for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer at this fun event, please sign up here.
From the School Nurse: Colleen Nielsen, RN
Colorado has had its first reported Measles case this week. Measles is more than just a rash. It is a serious respiratory illness that can cause lifelong problems like hearing loss, brain damage, and even death. Measles is preventable with a vaccine. Please reach out to your provider to check on your student’s vaccination status. If measles was to be found in our student population, your student will be excluded if not fully vaccinated. If you have questions, please email me at cnielsen@lakecountyschools.net
I’m Here For It!
Grade levels will be competing to see which class has the highest percentage of attendance for the month of April. The grade level with the best attendance will earn Free Play Time. Those students from the winning class who are at school every single day in April will also be invited to enjoy an exclusive, sugar free treat. So, set your alarms, show up every day, and win some free time with your friends!

Project Dream Updates:
Project Dream is hiring a part time position to drive the Activity Bus for afterschool and Friday programs! Many Project Dream families say how helpful it is to have free transportation for our programs, and we need your help continuing this service.
Pay is $20-$26.50/hour dependent upon experience, average 20 hours per week, no CDL required. If you know anyone who might be interested, please share this job post with them: https://www.lakecountyschools.net/blog/2025/03/18/lcsd-is-seeking-a-driver-for-project-dream-programs-no-cdl-required/
