LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 10/27/23
Hello LCIS Families,
Thank you to all of the families that came to our community meeting this week! We had a great audience to help us celebrate STEM learning with our 5th graders. We were also able to honor the Scholars of the Month for October. The teachers and staff chose to recognize these students because they exemplified Respect among their peers. We love commemorating the HOWLS (Habits of Work and Learning) of our students! Next month we will focus on Gratitude.

LCIS will be selling Halloween SMENCILS on Monday and Tuesday! Students may purchase a scented pencil in it’s own case for $2 each on October 30 and 31. We will be selling pumpkin, plum, apple and cherry scented pencils that are made from recycled newspapers. They really are the best scented pencil on the market! We will also be selling some really nifty 4 color ballpoint pens with a bonus mechanical pencil! These pens will also sell for $2.
Halloween is next week! We will begin the day with a costume parade in the gym during Crew and families are welcome to attend. Students may wear their costumes for the entire school day. Costumes must be school appropriate and therefore fake weapons, face masks and face paints are not allowed. Please do not send any food with your child with the expectation that it will be shared with others. If your child does bring food to school, it will be returned home with them at the end of the day. If you would like to send a little Halloween prize to be shared you may, but this is not expected. Little prizes may include pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. Students who are not participating in the activities will have the option of joining fun alternative activities.
Coming up in November is our annual Thanksgiving lunch. Please join us on Wednesday, November 15 for this delicious meal at a minimal cost. We have the best food service in the country!
Adults – $5
Children – $3
LCSD students from any building – Free

ACADEMIC UPDATE:
6th graders are working on their new ELA unit, “Mysteries and Investigations”.
Some 5th graders enthusiastically practiced their instruments during second recess all week during their first week of band! What amazing dedication and excitement – we have a playground band!

Ticket prices will be $7/adults and $5/seniors for HS games and $3/adults and $1/seniors for MS games. We will NOT be taking cash at the front door, but we will take credit cards at the door.
You can also buy your tickets online in advance at: https://gofan.co/app/school/CO11697
The Lake County Annual Pass will get you into any home event- HS or MS, volleyball or basketball.
Reminder: Lake County students will need to show their school ID to get free entry into the volleyball games.
