LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 11-3-23
Hello LCIS Families,
We had such a fun Halloween day this past week! It was so fun to bring back the Halloween Parade in the gym as this was a great way to see the students and staff in their costumes! A huge shout out to our Specials teachers Ms. Good, Mr. Teesdale, and Mr. Corley for designing and facilitating a Halloween Panther Pride day. The students enjoyed the activities!
Don’t forget that our time change is this weekend! Fall Back!
We will have a lockdown drill on Wednesday, Nov. 11th. Students will hear the directive to lockdown over the PA system, the lights will be turned off, and the students will silently stay in a corner of the room until they are released by an administrator or law enforcement partner. We strongly believe that practicing these drills will create safe habits. Please call 719-486-6830 with any questions or concerns.
Our partners from CMC will be here on Thursday next week to give a “College Is For Me” presentation to our 5th graders. Dr. Hauser, the president of CMC, will come to LCIS to share information about the path to college for students. There will be small gift items and best of all, Swoop the Eagle will come!
Our delicious Thanksgiving lunch is only two weeks away! Please join us on Wednesday, November 15 for this hearty meal at a minimal cost. We have the best food service in the country!
Adults – $5,
Children – $3
LCSD students from any building – Free
Our next Attendance Celebration is quickly approaching and will be hosted on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 15th. The dates for this attendance window are Oct. 2-Nov. 15. Students who attended all 27 days or only missed one of these days, will be invited to participate in the celebration. We value attendance as we know that there is a strong correlation between attendance and academic success. Thank you for doing your part to help your student to get to school every day!
While we know that this isn’t always possible, due to illnesses, we want you to remember that we will have numerous opportunities for these attendance celebrations throughout the year. In fact the last one of the fall semester will be held on Wednesday Dec. 20 for the 15 days between Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break.
PROJECT DREAM
On Friday, November 10th Project Dream Friday students in grades K-6 will be visiting the Denver Zoo! If your student participates in Friday programs please remember to return the confirmation form to your school’s Site Supervisor by November 3rd. Students must arrive at their school by 7:40 am on November 10th as buses will depart at 8:00am. We expect to return to the schools by 5:00pm. There will be no transportation to/from home on November 10th.
Colorado Gives Day is coming up and Project Dream is accepting donations! All donations made November 1 through December 6 will be matched by Colorado Gives Day and the Incentive Fund. You can make your tax deductible contribution to Project Dream through the Lake County Community Fund by visiting https://www.coloradogives.org/story/5r6d2g. There will also be an opportunity to donate in exchange for a sweet treat when you pick up your student from school.
