Parent Volunteers Needed:
If you would like to volunteer to be a pod parent from 7:45-8:10 in the morning, please reach out to me at kpongrekun@lakecountyschools.net. You would help students get their belongings put away for the day and take any messages that parents want to share with the teacher that day. This would be a continual commitment at least one day a week. Thanks so much for helping out at the school.
Please be sure to read the grade level specific sections below for more information pertaining to your child. Reach out at any time if you have questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Katie Pongrekun
Principal, LCES
Staff of the Week Highlight!
Each week this year in family communication, we will be highlighting a staff member in the building. If you want, please feel free to send emails, handwritten notes, or letters of encouragement to that staff member.
Room #133: Ms. Donna and Ms. Noemi
Ms. Noemi grew up in Mexico and enjoys spending her time off listening to music, shopping, doing nails, and spending time with her family. Her favorite color is hot pink and she likes any and all kinds of chocolate.
Ms. Donna grew up in San Fernando Valley, specifically Woodland Hills, California. She began teaching at 13 years old and then started professionally 8 years ago. She recently completed her AA in Early Childhood Education. When asked what inspires Ms. Donna, she said
“Knowing that someday I will be in heaven and this life is short compared to eternity, so don’t worry about tomorrow.”
Send Ms. Donna an encouraging note at dkuster@lakecountyschools.net. Send Ms. Noemi an encouraging note at nolopez@lakecountyschools.net.
K-2 Specifics
HOWLs: As a school, we use a positive reward system that allows students to earn HOWLs dollars by showing any of our 8 habits of work and learning: collaboration, respect, responsibility, craftsmanship, compassion, perseverance, curiosity, and creativity. Students are able to use their earned HOWLs dollars to purchase fun items from the school store. We are excited to say that in the first four weeks of school, our students have earned 4.298 HOWLs dollars. This is really great to see that our students are coming to school everyday ready to learn. Thank you for continuing this conversation at home with your student.
Attendance: Every week that students have perfect attendance they are awarded 5 HOWLs dollars for responsibility. As part of our LCES Work Plan, we have a school attendance goal of 94% for the year. When students are here they are able to learn, when students learn they are set up for lifelong success. This week our attendance percentage by grade was as follows:
- Kindergarten: 91%
- 1st Grade: 97%
- 2nd Grade: 96%
Thank you for bringing your children to us each and everyday.
Drop off and Pick Up:
Breakfast is served daily from 7:30-8:00. If you would like your child to eat breakfast, please drop them off by at least 7:45 daily to give them time to eat.
Classes start at 8:00. If your child arrives after 8:00, they will need to stop in the front office to get a tardy slip.
Pick up starts each day at 3:20-3:30. Thanks for picking up on time each day. If you need to change your child’s after school instructions, please call the front office before 2:30. If you call after 2:30, we can not guarantee that your change of plans can happen.
