News From LCHS 11/03/23
Dear LCHS Community,
We have a lot to be proud of this past week and going into this weekend! Our boys soccer team played in the first round of playoffs and one of our students was named Frontier League Player of the Year. Congratulations to soccer on a great season. Our girls cross country team ran in Colorado Springs this past weekend and took second in state. We had two runners place in the top 10. Congratulations cross country! This weekend, volleyball will host the first round of regionals. They will play at 12:00PM on Friday. Come out and support our panthers!
It is hard to believe that we are six weeks away from the end of the first semester! We have a lot to be proud of and we look forward to sharing our successes and reflecting on our growth areas.
Course finals will be held the week of December 18th. Finals are a significant time for students to synthesize their learning from the semester and are an important academic habit. They are held at the end of the semester to serve this purpose and to ensure all standards have been taught. We understand that family events or sickness can conflict with this timeline.
If a student/family is requesting an approved early final the request must be submitted by Monday, December 4th. The semester 1 approved early final date will be Friday, December 15th. For students who may need to take their finals at different time, families must meet with the administration team to present their request and discuss next steps. The final decision will be made by the administration team and communicated to the family. These decisions will be approved on a very limited basis. In the case of medical emergencies, a doctor’s note may be required. Not following these procedures could result in a zero for the final exam portion of the students final grade. The request form will be available next week and available at the front office.
Looking ahead, our Thanksgiving Lunch will be held on Thursday, November 16th at both high school and junior high lunch. More information coming on this next week!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend,

CONGRATULATIONS to boys’ soccer and girls cross country for making the postseason and representing Lake County HS well!! GOOD LUCK to girls’ volleyball, as they head into the postseason!!
Middle school boys’ basketball is rolling. You can find the team schedule here. We will be charging a gate fee for our middle school basketball games- $3/adult and $1/senior. We will NOT be taking cash at the front door, but we will take credit cards at the door. You can also buy your tickets online in advance at: https://gofan.co/app/school/CO11697
Panther Gear! If you are looking for Lake County spirit gear, our Panther store is still open. This year there are additional sport-specific options. You can find those here. Spirit wear (in the bottom right hand corner) says Panthers instead of a specific sport. 5% of sales comes back to the athletic/activities department.
HS basketball season kicks off on Monday, November 13. If your student doesn’t have an active physical, please get them an appointment ASAP!
Skiing will also be starting practice in the next couple of weeks. If your student wants to ski, and you haven’t heard from a coach, please reach out to me, and I will get you in touch.
LET’S GO PANTHERS!!
