CCHS News and Announcements 5.1.25
Dear Cloud City Families,
What a great turnout for NWEA testing today! We only had a few late arrivals, but overall, everything went smoothly. This should be wrapping up our district and state testing for the school year. Wow, it is hard to believe we are already in May! We have just five more academic weeks before graduate portfolio defenses, and then we will be diving into J-Term and graduation.
Students, please make the most of this time to finish strong.
Parents and guardians, we appreciate your support in getting your child to school and communicating with us if there are any barriers to regular attendance.
Upcoming Events:
Prom is Saturday, May 3rd at Freight from 7:00-10:00pm.
Only students registered as 11th or 12th graders in our system may attend. Underclassmen may attend if invited by an 11th or 12th grader but must have approval from Mrs. Kerrigan by completing the form by the end of the day on Thursday, May 1st.
- Workforce Boot Camp is next Thursday, May 8th.
All students are required to attend. Please ensure your student arrives by 8:25am, as the bus will be leaving by 9:45am for Glenwood Springs Adventure Park.
If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s finish the year strong!
Warm regards,
Katherine Kerrigan

From the School Nurse: Colleen Nielsen, RN
Colorado has had its first reported Measles case this week. Measles is more than just a rash. It is a serious respiratory illness that can cause lifelong problems like hearing loss, brain damage, and even death. Measles is preventable with a vaccine. Please reach out to your provider to check on your student’s vaccination status. If measles was to be found in our student population, your student will be excluded if not fully vaccinated. If you have questions, please email me at cnielsen@lakecountyschools.net

Lake County Gateway Mobility Plan-Community Outreach
Lake County is developing the Gateways Mobility Plan to improve traffic safety and multimodal access along US 24. The project includes evaluating pedestrian and bicycle improvements as well as exploring a potential truck diversion route to reduce congestion in Downtown Leadville. Focus areas include Mountain View Village, the Northern Gateway, and the intersection near Colorado Mountain College. To ensure the plan reflects community needs, a bilingual (English/Spanish) survey is available for the community to share their input. Families with students at your school play an important role in shaping safe and accessible travel options. Please see the flier below.
